Yep, it was unconvincing because skill execution was still poor, hands were sloppy and turnovers coming out of the back line in particular were still prevalent, given the opposition was next to pathetic allowed us to get away with pretty much every mistake we made. However, an 11 goal win we shall take, but it was a win that simply didn't display improvement other than getting 1 more game of experience in and giving Fasolo a run.

I wonder how we would go in a game against Sydney or Hawthorn with the intense pressure they are playing with tonight. That first half was top 4 footy at its brutal best. That is our goal and it is a very long way away.
You are curious about how we would go in a game against Sydney or Hawthorn with the intense pressure they.

Miss the 2011 GF Dave?

A good win but still plenty of improvement needed to even compete with the best.

Was the crowd only a pitiful 6000 or so ?? Goes to show, the Pies were shoved up there to attract the white shoes brigade, and ex vics, the Pies ones in retirement up there. This Suns thing is a total utter failure, and a drain on precious league finances, low membership and woeful crowds, and now coached by an old hack. They use the Pies up to try and get people in, but it aint working, just a running river of money into a dud team in a vegas type joint that has zilch interest in our game. Having said that, i was pleased with the win all round, good team effort, varcoe, jesse have answered theri critics, and elliott and pendles absolute stars. A great confidence win. !

Was it better than today's 29 disposals, 10 marks, 2 goals and a 100% disposal effectivity rate ?

ABC radio got that wrong then, but really, bet 12 000 were Pies fans. Cool

Lets keep the win into perspective.

Any team missing 5 of their best players (8 in total) will always struggle to cover them. Ablett, Day, Lynch, Malceski, O'Meara, Swallow, Tape and Thompson were missing. Having said that we can only beat the what is in front of us.

Good games from all the usual suspects and Varcoe. Hope the coach clicks on to how open and unpredictable our forward line is when Cloke plays high up field.

Our midfield went to sleep again in the second term will allowed easy clearances and easy delivery into the forward line.

We would have been punished by the better teams with some of our poor decision making down back and kicking backwards to one on one situations.

Overall a good percentage booster.

3 goals in a GF including one of THE great Grand Final goals of all time, a goal that had us Pies fans kissing back to back goodbye. Today it was Varcoe and Collingwood vs witches hats. Sure he was good but come on!....Comparing a game against the Suns and a GF victory? LOL

Great win. Had to work do only saw the scores after half time. (looking fwd to the replays if we get them).

Listened to it on the radio.

Great stuff, will need the percentage when we play a North Melbourne after their drubbing tonight as they will be on the rebound.

9% to he percentage is not a bad night out. White want to see you do this again next week.

2nd quarter, Jesse White gets dubious free kick for high contact. Yes, free was unlucky, but Dunstall: "White's gone low, he's taken out his legs hasn't he?" ... in response to White getting down low to take low down MARK!

Um, OK...

3rd quarter, Cloke being held in goal square. J.Brown: "His jumper's being pulled a little [Suns defender has a massive chunk of black and white fabric in fist stretched to breaking point] but there's no way known that's a free kick..."

Huh? What?

Watched some of the highlights and saw a couple of really excellent moves by Jesse White. I know that this was aided by lack of opposition, but let us hope that his achievements today give him that edge of confidence that he so desperately needs. Could this be a defining moment for him?? Here's hoping! Go Jesse!!

The gold coast were ordinary but at least we showed that we are far better than that. Good win pies. Looking forward to the test against the roos next week.
5 3 is a good start to the season

I was just asking. I didn't remember Varcoe's game in 2011.
