The reason that Australia doesn't pay blood or sperm donors is because of the numerous transmissible diseases such as Hep B, Hep C and HIV.
You have to complete and sign a strict lifestyle questionnaire - although they test using the best most precise methods there is still a window period where someone could test negative but be sero converting which means they are capable of transmitting such diseases.
When there is a financial incentive there is a risk that people will not be truthful because of the monetary benefit!
It is not the sole reason but it is one component of why directed donations from family members are not done as routine.
Just enjoy what you do when you do it

Reminds me of when I was an apprentice at the DIH.
One of the 'lients' was allowed to work in the kitchen, he was well known for his frequent 'self management' sessions.
He came walking out of a storeroom, blood everywhere, he'd found some AJAX and thought it would be worth a try as lube
