They didn't rate him!

"It was the best thing for James as it turned out," Stewart said, "and once the decision's made it's made. I remember [recruiting boss] Derek Hine calling me about midday on the last day of the draft camp in October.
"He didn't give a reason and I didn't expect one. They obviously didn't rate him highly enough and that's their right, but he had been in the AIS so he was on their radar. |
All that says is the kid clearly wasn't Darcy Moore obviously good even in his fathers opinion because thats all that comment is, his fathers opinion/guess. |

While the timing of the news for poor James wasn't good, it was hardly going to ever be a good time to get the news. I would think there was a lot of thinking, and due diligence done on these players and then when they got done they called about it.
For whatever reason Stewart and Kelly didn't impress, and we decided not to go there, too early to talk regrets let's see how they go in the future then we can have 200 threads picking this decision apart and crying over it. _________________ Ðavâgé

It all seems a bit of paper filler on a wednesday. Nevertheless this Davis kid would be handy at the moment with our lack of key tall backs, and Liam Picken would have been handy. _________________ " Ohhh Banksy and out comes the Note Book".

This ^
Dad needs to grow a set.
Sounds like a little bit of sour grapes combined with a little bit of na na na naa nah, because what, he's played a couple of good games. Good Luck to him, but what if the pies agonised over the decision and finally made up their minds last minute? Well within their right to make decisions whenever the hell they feel like it.
Gee sometimes I hate this marshmellow world of soft hearts and sensitive egos. The world owes you nothing. Get out there, earn it and get it! _________________ No Pressure, No Diamonds

What a load of bullshit.
Probably better his kid knew before his exams one way or another than be in limbo during them I'd have thought.
And seriously if he can't knuckle down for his studies anyway and put the football to one side then there's something wrong with him. It's called compartmentalizing your life and we all manage to do it to one extent or other. Christ it's not as if the club let him know he wasn't going to get picked up 10 minutes before his English exam is it?
If the club hadn't spoken to him for 12 months before hand then clearly they didn't have much intention on picking him up and they should have realised. It sounds to me more like Stewart is dirty on the club for not thinking his boy was good enough. Boo hoo. |

Seriously, James should have kept his mouth shut and not embarrassed his son like this. |

I may have regretted the Jake Kelly decision if Crisp, Ramsay, Langdon etc hadn't come along and stole my heart, but I would prefer Stewart over Corey 'giraffe learning how to walk' Gault.
Mind you, neither of the over-looked F/Sons would be in our best 22 right now. |

Another way the AFL is taking the game away from the supporters......
They should be making it easier for sons to get to their father's club not harder.
Put it back to what it used to be - 3rd round pick regardless of whether a gun or a dud.
There's still room for sentiment in footy - in fact, if you don't have sentiment what do you actually have?? _________________ "I am a great sage, equal of heaven.

Some would say processes and structures and some of terry wallace's eyebrows in a small jar around a stoppage. _________________ " Ohhh Banksy and out comes the Note Book".

Well said - sentiment and tribalism rules!
Otherwise it is sterile and boring.
As i have said in another post -
kicking a piece of inflated animal skin between 2 sticks
iS pretty damn stupid unless you have a different perspective. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |
