Not a roast thread, but I'm wandering why we don't try him as a key defender, we all know he will never be a consistent forward, he has the tools to be a key back, I say drop him to the 2s for 6 weeks and play him back, it worked for Taz. _________________ Defender...........

I like the idea of dropping him to the twos. But I see him as a depth player. The forward line should consist of Reid at FF, Cloke CHF with Witts and Grundy rotating with each other as ruck/third tall forward.
As for the backline I think it's fine as it is and if Frost or Brown get injured then I'd be using Marsh or even Moore ahead of White. White should be like Sam Dwyer of the talls IMO. |

Rest him now, time to bring in Benny Reid. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Has been good as a forward of late. But I don't believe he can play the Leigh Brown role. Which means there is a problem when we don't play two rucks. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

Think he's been good this year when played purely as a forward, and I think he's been okay when playing in the ruck, even had a run as an onballer last night.
Problem is his forward work suffers when he plays as that back up ruckman.
Watched him play KPD against the Northern Blues. He was matched against Waite and Watson. He did okay but not sure he's got that dour defender in him and he'd need to bring that at times if he was playing as a KPD. |

He has now played 100 games for two different clubs, I would have thought if he had shown anything as a KPD, we would have had some history to draw on.
Chris Tarrant was a first round pick and White was pick 79 out of a non football state. We simply expect to much of an average footballer. So then we pick him up from Swans for pick 40 odd as an athletic KPP. You just don't pick up to many GOOD KPPs for a third round pick.
Hes been ok this year and when the club feel that he can replaced by Moore or Reid or whoever, then we can all move on and find another soft target.

I thought he competed well last night even though it wasn't a night for tall forwards. If he had of kicked that goal we would be saying he had a good game.
He wont play defence for the simple fact that Reid wont be replacing him forward. The club has already said this pre season with Reid's quads he will be playing in the backline where he is comfortable.
Darcy Moore's the one to go forward. |

Agree - let's try him in the backline - strong and mobile enough... _________________ COLLINGW09D |

Reid is ahead as a fwd and of course can play back. The key is getting fwd experience into Grundy/Witts. Moore needs more games and is a way off. Gault has not worked out but is still young enough to develop in the magoos.
Given Reid's poor luck with injuries White will be a very handy back-up.
When he was kicking for goal I never thought he would kick it… he probably thought the same!
Until Grundy/Witts learn to take the game on as a fwd and not just contest in the ruck WHite is stlll required. He has pace and is able to keep his defender/opponent honest - not sure if Grundy/Witts are at that stage yet and their lack of speed compounds their offensive deficiencies.
Therefore Reid comes back in as the 2nd tall fwd in the next week or so and depending on conditions and the opposition make up we play 2 of Grundy/Witts/White. _________________ Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!! |

White actually did some decent stuff around, but he was a boy on a man's job against Sandilands and the goal miss hurt a lot. _________________ " Ohhh Banksy and out comes the Note Book".
