Witts did OK for his first game back but did miss some critical marks. White has no second effort and is a waste of space. He is a NAB cup goal kicking specialist. We are better off putting games into younger players with potential than spend time on this dud.

Cloke is a disgrace. When is this guy going to get his act together and grow up. The boys work their arses off time and time again so as to give him an opportunity in front of goals and he just throws it all away..

Yes he did.
I struggle to work out how we got to within 4 goals last night
with so many poor players.
Strong bodies won out last night.
It has taken a long long time but finally we are
picking bigger and taller recruits.
Won't make a huge difference this year.

We are not that good that we can give another side a 10 goal start and then reel them and in.

Now as far as the saints are concerned, that is a different matter.

On the bright side, we would of learnt a hell of a lot more this week than last weeks walkover.

Get off the players back. We tried hard against Geelong but the umpires were against us. The boys did their best and the score didn't reflect the effort they put in. It was a cold night and this contributed to the loss as well. People who bag the Players and Coach last night are disloyal fans who hate Bucks and want us to win every week. Get over it. We are the greatest Club in the AFL and if you doubt that then go and support Carlton where you belong. We will beat Richmond and be back in it.

Very pleased with the effort after the first 1.5 quarters. That's twice that we could easily have been blown away this year but have instead stuck with the task.

As this game shows there is still quite a bit of development in our players. Against a team that is on like the Cats on Friday night it was always going to be very difficult. This season for us, and it seems the rest of the league, is going to be up and down. We are seeing a massive variation in performance from game to game and even quarter to quarter, so we're going to have to be able to deal with some difficult periods sprinkled with the positive.

The only disappointing thing about last night for me was that we really struggled to close down Geelong's space. There was a lot of open play in their forward line. Cats were too clean and moved the ball too quickly for us and it took us a long time to adjust to the higher level of competition.

And Browny finished? Very Happy. Frosty being ragdolled by Hawkins, put Brown onto him and he's barely sighted the rest of the way. Imagine if we had him in the 2011 GF Crying or Very sad

Well, that was miserable. After a day to think about things my view about the game has changed a little bit.

It's obvious that the Cats were on for the night, but despite all of our issues they did not score a goal for almost 40 minutes of football. So we can match it with them if we play near our potential. Having said that, we are good ordinary side who needs to play at our best to beat teams who are close to us in ability. I think we have much more upside that the Cats, but we are not there yet.

As disappointed as I was with White, he kicked 2.2 for the night and despite all of his obvious limitations, had 4 shots on goal. Pragmatically, until we get someone who can provide anything approaching this contribution, we are constrained. I am a big wrap for Gault but he is not quite there as yet. This is not to say that I think that White is anything but a waste of talent. I also acknowledge that he is never going to have any footy sense at all. This costs us dearly on a regular basis.

Armstong is another case entirely. I find his selection utterly mystifying. It's not as if he has demanded a place. I watched him in the scoobs last year and he doesn't look anywhere near VFL, much less AFL standard.

I know that Cloke is copping a bit and rightly so for his misses, but as Pies4Shaw pointed out to me when we were chatting about this, he was a big part of our come back, with his running and presenting.

Oxley will learn from that game. He dropped a couple of important marks due to referred pressure but he doesn't lack courage or ability. No one who took the pack marks he took last week lacks courage. We have to remember that he has played less than 10 games but still managed 22 touches and 4 tackles.

Broomhead showed some of his class inside but he is still a work in progress. He has a long way to go before he can provide the necessary defensive pressure required but once Sidey comes back, I think that we will see Broomie improve rapidly.

Anyway, bring on the Tigers...lets hope that the Rammer & Seeds are back for that game.

Despite the loss, we still remain second on the ladder for now.

Looking like Freo is the team to beat.

I saw plenty of him during the parts I watched, took a number of contested marks on the wing to stop the Cats forward run

Goldsack had a poor game this week.

Only 7 possies, 3 tackles and 2 marks (0 contested).

Well, that was very disappointing!! I expected there would be a few performances like that this season, but I wasn't expecting it this week.

They really jumped out of the box, and we just couldn't stop their momentum. They were bloody good in those first 20 minutes, we just couldn't get our hands on the ball.

I thought we did pretty well from about half way through the second quarter to stop them from really blowing us away - 70 to 10 at one stage looked pretty grim. If Cloke hadn't missed that sitter, it would have been 23 points, 5 minutes into the last - it was a real momentum killer.

Cant understand the selection of Armstrong. Certainly, it didn't really have anything to do with the result, but it was mystifying to say the least.

I would really like us to persevere with Witts in the side. I know he made a few blunders, but it wasn't a great game to come back into the side.

I would rather have Grundy, Witts & Gault than White in the side. The Jessie White experiment has failed. We are developing for the future, so we may as well get as many games into Witts & Gault as we can.

Speaking of development, Its obvious after last nights seconds game that De Goey is wasting his time doen there. It time to pick him in the seniors, with his papers to be stamped "never to be the sub again".

Hopefully, with the 9 day break, Seedsman & Ramsay will be ready to go. If so, my changes for next week would be:

Out: Armstrong, Dwyer, Karnesis (unlucky), White
In, Seedsman, Ramsay, De Goey, Gault

That was probably the loss we had to have as a reality check. Geelong unveiled their future on Friday night and I suspect maybe so did we. Basic skill errors cost us throughout the game. The comeback was good but when our concentration flagged briefly Geelong put the foot on the jugular and finished us off. Hopefully we can regroup next week and this is not the start of a slide.
