We have reports of a man in a van running down pedestrians in the UK. Reports say it's not a terrorist act it's a car accident. White man allegedly runs down Muslims leaving a Mosque. I see why it's a car accident.
Update, it's now a major incident. |

Is it really surprising?! Lighting candles & praying doesn't work, do you think people are going to continue to sit back and wait?
Unfortunately this is the result of Muslim terrorist attacaks and like those, will, no doubt, continue to escalate. |
My argument is that anti-Muslim rhetoric like yours increases the risk of attacks like this. If you're arguing that it's merely an organic – justified? – response to terrorism, then that's even worse. |
I am not surprised at all that this latest attack has happened.
As I said, people are sick of lighting candles and praying... it's unfortunately a war in the streets. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

If it was a Muslim driving the van killing people then it would have been called a Terrorist attack within seconds. It's the reverse and they are holding off calling it a terrorist attack. Same same but different. This won't even be news in a few days. |

It's not a terrorist attack though.
It's a hate crime.
For it to be labelled a terrorist act it would need to be IMO part of a pattern of behaviour like we've witnessed with radical Islamist's around the world or the IRA.
This crime is more akin with the douche who drove down Bourke Street killing multiple people and is more an act by one crazed individual than crimes committed because of an ideology of the many. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

All I am saying if it was a Muslim driving it would be a terrorist attack no matter what the motive. Now, it's being called a Terrorist Act. About fckn time. |

Doesn't greatly matter what we call it here - it's another instalment in the Islamist war that has been declared within our society. The perpetrator in this case should be treated with the same severity as the Islamist monsters who have provoked the act. He is doing their work for them. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

I'm surprised David hasn't split this into a different thread yet.
The reaction to this, particularly in London, will be interesting and informative.
Whether it's a terrorist attack or not is a matter of semantics. It's no less a hate crime than those perpetrated by the Islamic fundamentalists, it's also a retaliatory attack on innocents and deserves no less condemnation.
I fear that the reaction of the Muslim community to this will impact a lot of consequent behaviour. Demands that it be called terrorism, demands that police guard mosques and collectively playing victim will not help things in a country famed for it's stoicism when under attack. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

If these takfiri fools honestly believe that by attacking moslems they will drive a wedge between them and the rest of the population then they're far more deluded than we give them credit for.

^ there are many regrettable things about this incident, above the obviously terrible loss of life and broken bodies. One of the very unfortunate side effects will be the propaganda value to the Islamists and the subtle way it licenses sympathy and "understanding" for their atrocities.
An example comes from the chap interviewed on the spot in the news this evening who said : "this is worse than terrorism - it's a hate crime". While it will no doubt be dismissed as a thoughtless and emotional remark, it does reflect a way of seeing the world among too many ordinary Muslims. Hence we need to make an example of the criminal responsible. _________________ Two more flags before I die! |
