Gault will be a good player - watch the replays of the last few weeks and you will be surprised at Gault's input.
I would play Gault with Witts and Grundy. Please do not flog Grundy to death this early in his career. He needs more than a chop out. |
Bingo. A cursory glance at the stats sheet doesn't do it. There's a reason or 3 why he keeps getting game time, and it's not because he's utterly lost and we're a charity. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

I seem to remember it worked alright against Carlscum and 9thmond last year iirc. Witts will come into the side at some point and it will most likely be at the expense of White or Gault, time will tell if its a good move or destabilises the current structures which appear to be working quite well, despite White and Gault not doing much damage on the scoreboard. _________________ "Hey Ma get off the dang roof!" |

i really wonder how often we will play grundy and witts in the same team. witts is not a like for like white replacement. he may come in for gault but i see little need to swap him out. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

Grundy has done well but it's a long season and he can't do it on his own.
Witts was the preferred ruckman last year and is coming back into the fray after a limited pre-season.
He will be back when the winter months hit, to complement what the big #4 brings to the team _________________ woodsmen rule |

Correct, and correct for seven reasons:
- 1: Witts is a genuine ruckman, not a fill-in type.
- 2: In the event of an injury to Grundy, you could ruck Witts all day without doing something nasty in your pants at the thought of it.
- 3: Witts can take contested marks.
- 4: Witts can get in front, lead out into space and catch the pill, rather than just doing the first two.
- 5: Witts can kick straight more often than not.
- 6: Witts is a young player on the way up with who knows how much improvement left in him, not an almost-old player on the way sideways with no real prospect of much more than what we have already seen for years now.
- 7: Witts is slower and less mobile than White.
Will you take six out of seven? Or is eight out of seven the pass mark these days? _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

Gault
I don't know if they should do it this week or next week but I'd be looking at putting him back to the magoos to work on what he's learned at the top level. |

I'm all for giving guys a chance to prove themselves but I hate it when guys are picked every week when it's not deserved. To me White is in that category. If everyone is fit, on current form he misses out for mine. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

Yep. Have seen a lot from Gault at ground level, in the ruck and in our structures. No coincidence that we haven't seen Trav double teamed as much.
On another note, who good is it that we DONT have to rush a player back from injury ?
Witts can take his time getting fit and given our youth we will loose more than a few games. He can be rotated in then.
Who knows, who it will be that needs a rest. _________________ "Even when Im old and gray, I wont be able to play but Ill still love the game"

Team has won 3 on the trot so it's hard to argue that players aren't deserving of games. Is everything working, nah, but that's to be expected this season with such a youthful squad.
At this stage I think it remains more about getting some stability and consistency into the squad. We're already seeing greater confidence and fluency in ball movement as a consequence. Team mates are becoming more predictable to each other.
As the season progresses I can imagine others will be introduced to try to garner even greater improvement but at this stage there isn't any reason to rock the boat.
And it's actually nice to not have to endure forced changes week after week. |

The way we're going it can also mean he's about to suffer an injury that puts him out for a number of weeks.
Relax, it's just a reverse psychology jinx. _________________ Go Pies! |

At least the selectors nailed this one.
Gault needed to go back to the VFL and learn to dominate at that level.
Witts and White need to perform though. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |
