And I think that's how it should be: one participates when and how they want to. If a thread bores you, don't post in it; if all the threads bore you, start a new one or give the whole thing a miss.

Think about it: The contradictions at the edge of social groups are difficult to resolve. You've acknowledged them (kudos), but in response you've requested compliance through a Freudian metaphor, if not a Freudian slip.
There's always going to be a skew of some sort when defending minority competitors against misinformation and social ostracism. If that skew isn't accommodation, subordination or adoration, or such, it's going to be classed as dickery at best. _________________ In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.
