Sensational news.

Best of all, he effectively gets his second developmental year back, when we thought he would lose almost all of it because of the knee.

Go get 'em, Schara!

Very happy for him and I know he would have passed all the medical tests required but half of me wishes he'd give his knee a couple more months to heal, knit and strengthen before exposing it to competitive football.

12 months was once the minimum standard before returning from a knee though I guess improvement in surgery and rehab might allow for quicker recovery times today.

I'm on the fence with this one, part of me wants him to play now to get back into senior calculations ASAP, and part of me thinks if he does it again it could be career over, reckon I'd be happy to give him another month.

If all goes 100% right he still isn't going to have a meaningful impact this year, why take the risk?

If he's half as good as his reputation he'll be a beauty. By all accounts his positioning, reading of the play and disposal skills are all elite, which is just what we need. While I guess he'll start on a half back flank, I wonder if it's asking too much to hope that he might eventually become another A grade midfielder? Here's hoping.

Apparently he felt he was right to go 6 weeks ago, but the club has held him back, made him jump through hoops and pass a multitude of tests before giving him a green light. I understand the concern, but how long can you hold a kid back before he turns around and tells the club to **** off and trade him?

I'm certain the club wouldn't even consider playing him unless they felt he was 100% good to go, especially given the cautious approach they've been taking with injured players this year.

So you'd rather their careers get ended by a knee injury, never to play again?!

Maybe they already have? I can't think of a reason why they'd be anything but cautious

Nice article,

Interesting to see they reckon Berg was ready to go 3 weeks ago but we held him back.
