today reinforced for me the fact this is now very much bucks' team. this is a team that is very much playing for its coach. still early days in the scheme of things but i am loving watching the development of our kids. far be it for me to get carried away but i feel we're one decent free agent and season away from rejoining the top echelon of teams, not withstanding natural improvement in our execution. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

I was thinking, hoping and dreaming during the week how today's game could prove to be a real turning point for this team and coach.
Given the buzz surrounding Essendon since there victory over Hawthorn and the state of transition our young list is currently in it would need to be a famous victory.
It was.
It's taken longer than I expected and a more painful route to get here than most suspected but I think we are finally at the beginning of witnessing this side becoming what Buckley has always envisaged.
We now have enough players willing and able to carry out how he wants the game played more often and for longer.
I think todays performance was the finest we've witnessed under Buckley.

What i find really exciting is that there are no less than four top ten picks(not counting the quarter that Degoey played)who are still to play a game for us.There's certainly a big upside with this team in the years ahead. |

swoop, you might remember a couple of weeks ago i said to you that supporters needed to keep the faith cos we were on the right track. we're by no means there but we're heading in the right direction and, if we don't quite get there it won't be for a lack if trying. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

They are a young team playing a very physical brand of football. They will tire as the year wears on. To me, this is just a launching pad for next year but having said that, I am really impressed with their character,.
Bucks has bought in a lot of young guys with a team first ethic. Its a team game and the foundation he has established, will set us up for many years to come. |

Yep, lots of growth potential in that team, and three top ten draft picks waiting in the wings, with Sidebottom and Reid on the sidelines. The future looks very bright.
edit : four top ten picks. (Moore, Scharenberg, Freeman, JdG). Amazing. _________________ Two more flags before I die!

If we can get a good run of injury free footy into the squad and start drip feeding new players into the firsts whilst being competitive. A rested and revitalised senior team for the second half of the year will go along way towards a final birth and maybe even a win. _________________ no second chances |

interesting, yesterday on abc radio buckley refuted the notion it was his team. he is right. there is a large support team in place who all play their role. i guess he is the most visible of them and ultimate accountability rests with him. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

Our young side is playing for Bucks, and the love him, you can see it. sadly for the ol fella MM, his Bluebellies are not playing for him, they even looked disinterested the other night, I think they know, ala what Gibbs said, that his tenure there is coming to a rapid close in not too distant future. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

We should maintain perspective. We haven't beaten a quality team yet. I think we have Provence we are a class above the bottom 8. Where we rank among the top 10 is still to be determined. _________________ Ohhh, the Premiership's a cakewalk ....... |

^^That's already proving quite a bit though. Many had us ranked lower than that before the season. So far, we look better than last year and most importantly we are playing like a well coached team without the kind of breakdowns we've seen in the past. _________________ Well done boys! |

Actually said he disliked the discussion about it being his team. He's just 1 member Of a team representing the club. |

You'd have to be happy with Hart given the development of Frost and Marsh in particular as key position options in a short period of time.
Marsh like Goldsack is probably to undersized to play on the really big talls at AFL level but is progressing well.
I wonder if we'll ever consider playing him elsewhere if his form demands selection but no opportunities exist in defence. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |
