His attack on the ball and tackling was very good last week. Stepping up and walking the walk not just talking the talk - he enjoys the big stage so maybe this week he can take out a player and a coach… _________________ Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!! |

He played quite well in round one, put in a shocker against the Crows and then played a top game against the Saints. Let's hope his last game's form is what we can look forward to most weeks. If he maintains that intensity he can be a very valuable weapon for us. |

I had to go watch the Miley original after that to stop my knob resembling a pressed stud.
Ron certainly has a very large err belly button.
It's fugly. |
Yeah, I get you.
But hey, scars come with the territory sometimes.
Just to be on topic for a brief milisecond, Varcoe was genuinely impressive against St Kilda with his hardness and repeat efforts. |

I always viewed Varcoe as a soft outside downhill skier.
Cue 2015 and in the 3 games* I've seen so far he's put his head over the ball, taken opposition players out (legally), wins both the inside ball and provides outside run/leg speed and has shown a defensive side (tackling and pressure acts) that I didn't think existed.
Varcoe's been a great pickup so far. I just hope he remains injury free and the curse doesn't strike him down.
* didn't see the Adelaide game. |

His Nab cup was ordinary as was his first real game.
Since then he has been excellent.
I didn't realize he went No. 15 in the national draft until recently. _________________ we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest. |

Not to be 'that guy' but I'm pretty sure I was one of about 2-3 posters that didn't mind Varcoe as a pickup
Been very impressed with him so far. |

^^^ I'm still in the "others preferred" camp but now he's here, he has my full support and if we see more of what he's offered up over the last couple of weeks he'll sway the opinions of many. |

So who is the other one? I always liked Varcoe in his Geelong days, saw him as a bit of a weapon ever since he was just about the only Cat to hurt us on that great day when we first smashed them silly. That conceited poonce Scarlett talked himself up all week, then arrogantly tried to run off a half-fit Anthony Rocca and ran SMACK! into a massive Pendlebury tackle. Free against. Then, all disbelieving that he could possibly do anything even slightly less than perfect, he ran straight over the mark and gave away a 50 metre penalty. Classic!
Anyway, that game, young Varcoe booted a couple and was the only Cat not to lower his colours in a team that got flogged. Had my eye on him ever since.
That said, I wavered in my faith a bit when I say his poor performances in the pre-season games and then Round One. Since then though, he's been right back into the slot. If he can keep this form, he's an automatic pick. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

The welcome to Collingwood Travis Varcoe thread is one for the ages.

If Trav had read it he'd have felt as a welcome as fart in a midget submarine.
King Malta you can add me to the very short list of those who didn't want Varcoe tarred, feathered and ran out of Collingwood (if not Melbourne) before he'd played a single game for us as well mate. |
