A 4 week (and counting) mild corkie?

Me smelling bullshit now.

my logic is that because we have a vfl bye next week that another couple of weeks' rest will leave him no worse off. then, after the bye, he can get a good run of games into him leading up to the afl bye then start looking to play afl games after that.

It does sound like smart (if overly cautious) management if true but eventually the club will have to take a punt on Ben to see if his body can stand up to the rigours of any football anymore.

Extended stints on the sideline are fine if he can come back fit and raring to go but so far he's had long outs then limited VFL time and broken down almost straight away. The softly, softly approach doesn't look to be working that well either.

I'd imagine they'd be pumping lots of work into him while he's not playing. No match for real match fitness but he should return to VFL in pretty good nick.

Frost struggled early against Hawkins, was fine after that. He struggled yesterday when Tooves went off and he had to go to Lids but a tough match up for him.

Very true, It might be worth giving Marsh a run alongside him.

Marsh continues to develop and his kicking has improved a lot this season. Still an occasional shank but much more consistent and reliable. Might get a chance if Tooves doesn't get up although you'd need to look at the GCS forward structures to see if there is a suitable matchup.

Was a mistake to give Reid the 5 years considering how injury prone we knew his brother was, hopefully we can come to some sort of arrangement with Ben Post season to get him off our books, his body just is t up to it sadly.

Unless we want to see Blairy playing as our third tall in the forward line for another two seasons, I think Reid probably sticks around (unless the doctors take the view that he can never get right) - it's not like there are other competent talls to replace him in a hurry. Given the Club's determination over the last 3 off-seasons to rebuild using the draft, I don't think they're going to give up half of what they've achieved by trading out any substantial part of the rebuild for a short-term Reid replacement.

Blackmore's injury update:

Ben Reid will miss the next 16 weeks due to pulling a hamstring while straining when taking a dump at home.

Balme: "Very unfortunate for Ben as he was progressing very well. The scans show a minor tear very slight but we are not going to take any chances with Ben so we think if he rest him for 4 months then he might be able to hit the track and put some pressure on it. It would say very long term at the moment"

That shaved area over the quad is often misleading. Sometimes, the Ashley & Martin crew have just harvested hair there for their transplant work upstairs! Give the bloke a break!
