I tend to agree with an earlier poster, if he is being picked as an emergency, its an acknowledgement by the selection panel that he is in the mix.
Its a very fine line between rewarding VFL form and playing someone in the seniors before their time. In Bucks, we trust.

No - Why Rolling Eyes

Reason 1: mccartin. Not ready. Hurts confidence.
Reason 2: hawks have Provence the virtue of patience for over 30 years and 9 flags

McCartin didn't have much advance notice and carried a broken finger into the game. Not easy circumstances for a big forward to play one's first game either given Friday's conditions.

But your lesson on Hawthorn is fair enough. Not much senior action from Tim O'Brien and James Sicily as tall marking forwards yet.

He looks like a ready-made player. He did in his first VFL outing. I'm not fussed whether they bring him in or not, at this stage, but he does move like a bona fide star (as Grundy did when he first started turning out in the VFL). Also, he's been one of the best couple of players three outings in a row and there needs to be some reward for that, soon.

What about Roughead and Franklin back when Hawks were in a similar rebuild phase to us?

Hawks are at a different stage in their list cycle to us.

When they were rebuilding the did in fact pump games into kids including Dowler Thorpe at stages.

Hodge and lewis played year 1 too.

18 yr old Isaac Heeney with his 4 goal haul last round and rising star nomination says hi.

Some guys are made for it some are not.........only one way to find out.

Your not going to destroy the guy by testing him out in 1 game of footy.

If he's struggling and they persist with him ala Watts then sure, damage can be done. But one game to see where he is at, sits pretty comfortably with me.

As a result I am not bothered by when they give him a go.

I'm tempted to recall young Brett Gloury whom Leigh Mathews put at full back on a dominant new Esssndon full forward called Paul Salmon. I reckon that debutant game killed off his career.

Darcy Moore is another case all together & the times they're are a changin' with respect to coaching, player welfare, support on & off the ground

He's not ready to play back at senior level.

Playing him on Daniher or Carlisle would be similar as to what happened to McCartin versus us, he would be embarrassed.

If he comes in he has to replace Gault as the third forward. The problem with that is he's only been playing down back at VFL level.

Nah, not yet, play him up forward this week in the VFL then we'll have the option to play him at either end versus a very weak Carlton team.

I'm not too sure if he's ready or not but at this stage I don't think we need to test it anyway. Happy for him to churn out a few VFL games given his disrupted preseason.
