High intentional medium impact |
Yep. Has to be medium impact that's the only bit up for debate. Split him needing 5+ stitches. Chapman had blurred visions and had to have concussion tests. Chapman fell to the ground after the hit.
3 games down to 2 with an early plea.
He's a handy player Yarran and will be a loss for them. _________________ Go Pies |

Isn't that a little on the light side? I know the rules have been altered but Sidey was given a 3-week holiday last season for going into a pack at a centre bounce. |

Yep. How it should be too. Those kind of hits (temple shots) can kill people when they're done bare fisted. There's no place for it in the game, and they need to make an example of Yarran, regardless of his previous good behaviour.
The still shots of the incident are damning. Chapman looks like he is out on his feet in the one where he is buckling at the knees. He required 5 stitches. You don't get a cut like that from a medium impact hit. He should absolutely be getting 4+ weeks imo. |

The detail of the MRP statement is informative: "Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Essendon Football Club, it was the view of the panel the incident should be classified as intentional conduct with high impact to the head."Emphases added by me. |

I stayed out of the toing and froing of this thread but would've been very surprised if it had not been classed as high impact and also would've been surprised if it wasn't referred straight away. 4 weeks is what I'd expect to see without any other mitigating or aggravating circumstances.
Used to see striking charges all the time back in the 80s and 90s, but they're so rare now. |

Wtf Dave? He hit him hard enough that Chapman lost his feet, drew blood, and he had to be concussion tested and you reckon it wasn't a hard hit? Not to mention he hit him around the temple area, which is extremely dangerous.
What constitutes a hard hit to you??? Yarran will get 3-4 at least. |
Give him a medal, seriously, that's like the movie quote

Tango and Cash. Top movie.

"Based on a medical report from the Essendon Football Club", he probably needs about 300mls of horse-tranquilliser and a large shot of rocket juice.... _________________ Two more flags before I die! |

Did you see that Muppet, Robbo, saying on AFL360 that he didn't think the impact was high and that he couldn't see Chapman's head moving sufficiently at impact as justification.
Did he look at the footage at all?
- blood and stitches
- head actually turns on impact
- Chapman loses his footing
He is seriously a major embarassment as a representative of the HS and Fox. _________________ One team, one dream - the Pies and this year's premiership |

He is seriously a major embarassment as a representative of the HS and Fox. | If Yarran had not kept hold of him he would have been out cold on the turf. Yarran even pulls him back up. It's 4 weeks but reduced to 3 due to his good record. |
