Senior Rabbi Moshe Gutnick says anti-halal campaign 'ignorant and prejudiced'
Tell us something we don't know:
".....The current attack we are hearing against halal certification in Australia is wrong," Rabbi Gutnick writes.
"It is the product of prejudice and ignorance. If it was against kosher certification it would be labelled anti-Semitic. If anyone believes anyone is funding terrorism and breaking Australian law, let them go to the police with evidence and the police will investigate it....

Not particularly wise, the Police aren't going to investigate without rock solid proof and obtaining that proof would require at the very least a whistle blower in the Islamic community. From what I can gather, the Halal certification is done for a substantial fee paid to Islamic organizations and how that money is then used is not entirely clear.
Of course, I'm equally ignorant of where Kosher funding goes, if it's even charged for etc which is why I personally don't make any statements about Halal and terrorist funding, because I just don't know. But absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence and there does seem to be some smoke in the anti-Halal groups' suspicions.

NFI who he is, and some of his writing is a bit whacky but like I said, I took about 10 seconds of google searching to find his piece.
It's just not an issue that resonates for me, but it seems to with a lot of people and I'm not going to dismiss them because what they say is politically incorrect. I think the whole Halal thing is a sideshow, a distraction from the main issue but for some reason it seems to get a lot of people's goat (whether their goat is strung up and bled out while still conscious is another matter)  . |

Even I know who Larry Pickering is. Once one of the most famous Australian cartoonists, in later life known mostly for being the (deserving) target of Julia Gillard's 'misogynists and nutjobs on the internet' reference.
Don't know what's wrong with the youth of today. Next you'll be telling me you don't know who Ziggy Pop is!

police usually investigate to obtain rock solid proof, on the basis of some suspicion/evidence of wrongdoing.

You can't see why people are upset the products cost more?
How about for things like milk or yogurt, where halal certification means squat?
