FMD.
First I see that they're doing a remake of "Big Trouble in little China" which is a cult classic and should NOT be £$%$ed with, remade or otherwise molested. I don't mind The Rock, but he aint no Jack Burton.
Who?
Jack Burton. Me. Everybody relax, I'm here. Would you stop rubbing your body up against mine, because I can't concentrate when you do that.
No fkn way the Rock can do Jack Burton any more than he could do Snake Pliskin. No No No.
THEN, i see they're doing a remake of Point Break. Again, classic movie Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves, should NOT be messed with.
Get an original idea FFS. We all know the 80's were the high point of culture, accept it and move on. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

The 10 very, very worst remakes of the decade in prospect.
- The Maltese Falcon
- Being There
- E.T.
- The African Queen
- The Last Starfighter
- Laurence of Arabia
- The Castle
- Fantasia
- Dr Strangelove
- The Life of Brian
- Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
- The Man Who Would be King
You haven't seen any of these remakes yet? Well, fair enough, so far as I know, 11 of the 10 haven't been made yet and the other one was quite a while back. Every single one of these wonderful films (each particularly wonderful in its own unique way) is so much superior to any imaginable remake (possible or impossible and I don't care how much you spend on it) as to make it out of the question for anyone to ever contemplate such rank stupidity.
Er ... except that they will, and in at least one case they already have, with the entirely predictable result: miserable failure.
Watch out carefully for remakes of these classic films, and prepare yourself with a very large bucket. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

I agree, Tannin. My list would be quite different, but the point stands—with very few exception, any attempt to remake a great film is an exercise in folly and inevitably inferior. There's a reason the masterpieces worked, and it wasn't 'cause it was a good story that would work just as well with Leonardo DiCaprio playing the lead role. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

My all time favourite childhood movie is getting raped with a reboot.
**** Hollywood. |
I'd like to start a rumour that The Blues Brothers is going to be rebooted with an all-white cast and females in the lead roles (Miley Cyrus as Jacinta, Britney Spears as Ella)) and with an Ozzie Ozbourne/Taylor Swift cameo duet (an unplugged version of "Tornado of Souls", in which Taylor will play solo violin). Dave Mustaine will also cameo with a falsetto version of "You're Cheating Heart". The finale will feature Kate Perry singing "Roar" in prison-garb insiide the tiger enclosure at the Tampa Bay Zoo (I assume there is one), surrounded by your actual tigers. Couldn't be (much) worse than the Ghostbusters reboot. |

Actually, having read the info on the link, I'd probably watch that. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Cape Fear was a very good remake while the original is very good as well.

Now you're going to bad places where the remake was actually better than the original, and the original was damn good. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

Yes I agree the remake of Cape Fear was great! Robert De Niro nailed the role of Max Cady perfectly.
Speaking of the original purpose of this thread, the remakes of Psycho and Twelve Angry Men were terrible! Nothing beats the original from both films. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |
