Smile My biggest concern is the midfield, we have lost more experienced and hard players over the off season. It all begins and goes through there, our attacking and how we cover our defense. Ball H and Beams are a great loss. We have also lost Levi for half the season, and really we have only have Swan and The best midfielder in the League left. Just not enough as the young blokes are developing. I was set on us finishing around 8-10th but losing Levi, Reid's a ? and depending on how the young blokes come through 10-12 is the most realistic scenario. Teams like the Bulldogs and Suns are on their way up so it will be a much closer competition. All exiting stuff nevertheless but I am under no illusion its a development year like 2004 and 2005. Forgot to add that we need to develop a general on our backline someone to guide and help keep the defence as tight as possible.

Wel, That is why we should Play the Kids

I reckon outside the 8 and possibly as low as 14, God forbid.

I just want to see our forward line being effective again and hoping Bucks & the brains trust have a better plan this year.

Also living in hope that some of our young brigade exceed this year

If the forward line can click we'll get in the 8 but I'm a bit pessimistic I have to admit.

Interesting to see a varying degree of responses about our prospects this year.

So far 40 posters have participated in the poll with 14 believing that we will play finals and 26 saying it won't happen this year.

I reckon 7th or 8th and then eliminated in first week. For some reason I can't vote on this. If anyone can explain why that'd be great.

GO WOODS!!

Reckon it will be between 10th - 16th - just not enough talent I'm afraid... glad to be proven wrong though.

I don't believe we will make the finals. I'm tipping 10-14. Of course I'll be supporting "us" as much as ever & will be delighted to be proved wrong if we do make the finals. However, I'd rather finish much lower than 9th and yes for the draft picks.

Yep. I see us finishing around the same. It's no mans land. Not in finals and not bad enough to score a quality top 10 pick. Yes, I'd rather finish 14th then 9th.

If you miss the finals your just another member of the loser group.

I just want to get a look at some of these highly rated youngsters play and start to influence the odd game. BenKen, Broomhead, Witts & Grundy. To a lessor extent, expectation wise, Freeman, Shaz, De Goey, Maynard and Moore.

I'm a strong advocate for finishing lower if you're not in finals contention but this year I'm actually hoping that the emergence of some of the kids push us higher, even if that doesn't mean finals. Pushes us down the draft pecking order but sets us up better for 2016 and beyond. Still falling low enough to grab a quality KPP prospect is enticing.

I've narrowed it down to 6th, 7th or 8th.
The reason being I have looked into the future and have visualized one game late in the season where we are one point down and Travis Cloke has taken a mark 35m out directly in front.

Siren has gone.... That's where the vision ends...

He either shanks it OOB and we lose, he scores a point and we draw or kicks the goal and we win.

Wow, I could start a poll inside a poll.

I'm actually in the 5-12 group but opted for the 9-11 as the more likely option within that cluster.

I'd certainly be knocking a couple of places off your predictions now, if Thomas and Keeffe are found guilty. This is a serious blow.

^Really?

It hurts depth for sure but Thomas just lacks something for mine whether it be his size or shocking disposal by foot.

Kennedy wont provide extra size to a small midfield but should prove to be at least an improvement on foot disposal if only small and is more suited to playing in a similar position to Thomas than that of an outside link player.

You'd hope that players like Adams, Broomhead, Freeman and De Goey would have gotten a game ahead of Thomas anyway in season 2015 if there form warranted it.

Keeffe has his knockers but he's a handy and versatile tall to have available and should still improve further.

He'll hurt our kp stocks and options no question but and it is a but if Brown and Reid can stay fit then his opportunities might have been limited this season.

Essendon 20 players, 2 years backdated to Nov 14.
Two Coll players 2 years dated Feb 15 going forward.

I'd take that.
