It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Stephen Phillips at the age of 62.

Stephen MCed many a Collingwood function and was as close a friend of our very own Lou Richards as anyone could get. Stephen and Lou co-wrote the best selling book Kiss of Death in the 1980s and also the follow up Lou - My Wonderful life

While Stephen was a life long Demons supporter, he always had a soft spot for us at Magpie land. Perhaps it was the shared decades of near misses and club calamities or perhaps it was just his enduring friendship with Lou.

The Victoria Park Heritage Committee wish to expressed our sincerest condolences to the Phillips family and the plethora of people, inside and outside of football, that have enjoyed Stephen's work over the decades.

RIP Stephen Phillips

Great journalist in print and television who was professional and very likable unlike some of the sensationalists and ambulance chasers around nowadays.

His books with Lou were terrific with The Kiss Of Death being a personal favourite football autobiography of mine.

Sad to hear he passed away at such a relatively young age.

RIP Stephen.

Called my name out on World of Sport in 1980 in the "who kicked goal segment" and won $50 as a 9 year old. Very sad for his family and peers. Best thoughts to all.

Around my own age, too young to go, very sad, I remember him well, I actually thought he was a Pies fan, real nice guy.

I must admit I wasn't aware of who he was until MB linked those videos and I heard his voice which sounded very familiar!

Sad to hear about his passing!
