On Collingwood page the pre career of these two
are drawing some elite predictions namely one AFL
captain predicting Matt as potential
Rising Star whilst Choco saying best junior
since Wayne Carey.
De Goey was close to BOG in finals last year booting
3 goals.
A lot to live up to so early but if true (or close) we have
them and Darcy to form the new Power Pies of the future

Man, why do we keep getting "we are going to be great tomorrow" threads but somehow we are in free fall for a couple of years now.
Fact is we have a list of potentials and that is it!
As I have said in past threads we have not recruited an A grader since 2008.
Things may change in the next year or two but at the moment we are ordinary!

Crikey we aren't traveling well but there is no reason to send them to the knackery just yet.

Blair on the other hand is so chunky you could carve him.

We do have good kids coming through, Sharenberg and Gooey were elite juniors who should go on to be elite seniors.

Freeman, Grundy, Witts, Moore are all really promising kids.

It was terrible that both our top draftees last year missed the whole season, they should both be priming themselves for going on with big second seasons in the ones, were it not for their injury setbacks.

It is not about hope or despair it is about proper analysis of the situation.
After a half dozen games with the Berg and De Goey we may have some more information about their worth.
We get so many threads talking up certain players when they have done nothing except put on a Collingwood jumper.

I did specify the future be it next year or 2017 making the three i mentioned 21 or so
And they may have others that progress with them
Some hope in my feelings toward my team better than none so hope i will for the future

My post was not ment to be derisive and some posts are products of media articles
whilst others on either a belief or some solid information
Mine is part based on media and part belief
It,s every ones decision how they see their clubs future may be
Its a passionate subject is being a barracker

There's no reason why we shouldn't see our team begin to climb back up the ladder, once the likes of Sharenberg, De Goey, Moore, Freeman, Broomhead, Kennedy, Adams, Witts and Grundy begin to have an impact this season. Obviously, with so many inexperienced players, we're likely to be inconsistent, but given their obvious talent, I'm optimistic we can have a good season this year.

How quickly do you expect a draftee to become an A-grader ?
Elliott drafted/traded for in 2011 is close.

Give the 2012 guys a little more then 2 years to show there wears.

2008 was a fair time ago ( 7 years ).
The second world war only went for 6 years!
May explain part of our situation, as for Elliot being an A grader - not at the moment.

Some either a ready or deemed ready and a Number one draft pick at start of century
was played very early namley Josh Fraser and whilst Josh played some good footy
may have been tried too early in the hurly burly
Joe Daniher at Windy Hill a spindly kid described in my delving was F&S pick up
in 2012
Born in 1994 puts him 21 and to date played regular from R11 last year
My point is this that he like Josh thrust in early --will he carry on for years the family name
or burn out not that it affects us
That has me thinking F&S Darcy Moore which does --he may or not be cherry ripe now
but i dont want a Fraser repeat

We've had 7 first round picks in the last 3 seasons.

Prior to that we only had first round picks twice in one season on two occassions in the past 10 seasons, with Pendles and Thomas being one, and Reid and Brown being the other.

To put it simply we have 7 possible elite young footballers on our list now, and that's not counting Langdon or Marsh who were taking a lot later in the draft.

De Goey, Moore, Freeman, Scharenberg and Grundy will be very good players at least, with the potential to be stars.

Kennedy and Broomhead may not reach that level but still have enough natural ability to become very good AFL senior players.

So 5 stars and 2 good players out of 7 picks, yeah I'll take that.
