Mad ol mick should realise his new Scum mob used free agency and rorts, to buy up big years ago, they had cheque book footy, bought the best talent with paper bags full of cash, like Kernahan, Bradley, etc, most of their 80s and early 90s teams were bought with fat wads of cash and cheque books, Mad Mick should realise this by now, it was always the Bluescum way, NEVER do the hard yards, rebuilding a team, like what we do, just buy the best players, and cheat to get em too. That was how they won their last flag, cheated for it. THATS the Caaaarlton way !

Free agency's a necessary evil. I can see why some wouldn't like it but you don't have a modern, professional sporting competition without it.

Maybe he also forgets he tried to lure a few other players to the Blues via Free Agency and failed, maybe that's his problem... no one but Thomas wanted to be a blue.

Mick is a football person first. He knows that Free Agency will in the end be detrimental to AFL in the long term. Yep he got Thomas through FA. We got Thomas and Pendles when we used the system to finish bottom after playing in Grand Finals. That's the system.

Who will be the first player in AFL to come out and state they are going to another club before the season starts? Was Gary Ablett Jnr the first? We basically have it now when players say their negotiations are on hold.

The players are the winners here and the poor clubs will be the losers. Example, Pat Macartin at the Saints is a gun but young. They develop him and then we come in and offer him a massive deal when he gets to Free Agency and they won't be able to match it.
