Now don't be like that.

He is in fact our third most successful coach after Jock and Phonse.

Not only did he win us a Grand Final, but he got an amazing number of records...

2 McClelland Trophies, 1 NAB Cup and a drawn grand final - 2 for the price of 1. As well, 13 winning finals (that number again!)

3 times runner up, compared to Hafey's four.

OK not Barassi or Norm Smith, but well ahead of the chasing pack of James Hird and Brett Sanderson.

We parted not as friends, but due to the utter schiesenness of the Showponies, he is unlikely to cause us as much damage as Lee Matthews.

Malthouse would see the year out but I won’t be surprised this is his last at the Scum

Theres no fool like an old fool, he will break our record but we will smash his rabble team that day, so it will be a sour victory for him. !

Mick would have to be red hot favourite to be one of the first coaches sacked this season if performances are poor and let's face it, they are bound to be.

Only thing that might save him is the scum don't have the cash to pay him out.

Happy for Mick to be referred to as the old fool as long as he's coaching the scum but he's also our old fool given his status as an ex-Collingwood coach and forever a Collingwood Premiership coach.

It's not really 'our' record either, it's Jock's and it will be surpassed by a bloke that will be forever recognised as a big part of the Collingwood family and our history. It's still with us as far as I'm concerned... And West Coast, Footscray and Carlton can claim a little bit of it too.

Well done to Mick on an amazing achievement coming up. Just hope we rain on his parade on the day.

Only circumstances I could see him getting sacked before breaking the record in round 5 is if the Scum get beaten by a team of Essendone top-ups, should the verdict go against the Bombres or the tribunal hasn't delivered it by round 3... Twisted Evil

I think he will make it for the full season or the majority of the season. I also feel that it will probably be his last with the scum.

Despite performance relative to ability, when members decline in large numbers (either membership or attendance) it not long before someone gets necked. Generally it's either the CEO, coach, or Prez.

Knights is a prime example of ultimately being sacked by the members turning their back on attending games.

I know many Blues fans/members despising having MM as their coach. It only takes poor performance on top of that and unfortunately for MM he's a goner.

Personally, I will always remember him fondly. Won us a flag. And so many great memories. Took us from a rabble to a team that made finals nearly every year. Loved the way he defended his players and the club (when it was his). It was sad to see him leave our club on the terms he did. No matter who's fault it was.

One other thing, he no longer has Kernahan and Swann to protect him now, hes on his lonesome, just him and dollar daisy, against the scum hordes of fans screaming for blood after early crushing losses that will come their way for sure.

There is zero chance they will sack him before taking McHales record, just to stick it up us.

I don't think he'll get sacked but I do think it will be his final year as coach. If Carlton were smart they'd know that Mick was partially motivated to join Carlton to prove his doubters wrong especially those from Collingwood who thought his time was up.

Carlton needs a younger and fresh face in charge especially with the rebuilding they need to undergo and after their membership disaster I have a feeling Mick won't stay. His intended purpose to join Carlton was to win premierships even though everyone outside of Carlton could see the team was going nowhere and remained as mediocre as ever.

I'll laugh if they keep him on! Laughing

yes, well said. I don't like the way it ended or how he behaved in 2011, and I don't partricularly like what I see of his personality - but he's part of our history and a Collingwood premiership coach. Respect.
