^ So the people with the means to come here are more likely to be terrorists/paedophiles/murderers?
I'm just trying to figure out the logic here. Why would the average asylum seeker be more likely to be an undesirable than the average Australian citizen? _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Well just by getting on the boat they've demonstrated that they're willing to consort with criminals, commit actions of questionable legality themselves in destroying their identification documents and are clearly and knowingly acting in direct contravention of the published wishes of the country they are attempting to enter.
Sounds like just the kind of people we want. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

We're now a nation of government fellaters who quietly and passively accept our lot (while dobbing in any and all who dare not fall into line). I still remember a bit of rebellious spirit in the 80s and 90s but its long dead now. |

...all things that an average Australian with wit and common sense would do in the same situation.
Seriously, you see trying to get yourself and your family out of a dusty, disease-ridden refugee camp and into a safe country by any means possible constitutes a moral failing? That's a very rigid standard you're setting there. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

The problem is they are not. They fly into Jakarta and try to get a boat. The 40000 Burmese trying to get resettled from Thailand have missed out. Some have been there for 40 years. An International disgrace. I would rather these people be dealt with first. _________________ Annoying opposition supporters since 1967. |

Yep exactly, so what do you do with the queue jumpers?
Hey David? Just what do you do? Don't lock em up, don't send em back, what the hell do you do? _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |

There is no queue to jump. It's rather like criticising people for trying to get out of a burning building first, even though they might not have been nearest the door when the fire started. |
