Post subject: AFL Smart Replay gone! | |
|
It is no longer possible to watch the AFL Smart Replay. Now, when you go to watch the game, you are required to get out your credit card and subscribe to an "AFL Live Pass" which is (a) expensive, and (b) gives you all sorts of other crap you don't want, such as smartphone apps (I don't have a smartphone) and live coverage (I don't need live coverage, I just want to watch the replay).

Same here. Went to watch the replay this morning and got the same crap about registering for a live pass which I don't want. Hopefully someone puts it on you tube very soon. Unless someone knows of another way? Bit torrent perhaps? |

just been on the phone to Telstra for 20 minutes got hung up on as per usual. if you want to sign up for the free trial you have to agree to a weekly subscription and give them your credit card details. no assistance with setting up trial subscription. just usual guff about registering a complaint in writing. |

Ah, so they were just teasing us these past two years. Still, it was a great service while it existed.

Stupid decision to put a small amount of money before promoting the game. How will they sway young fans towards our game if they have to pay to see it? _________________ How would Siri know when to answer "Hey Siri" unless it is listening in to everything you say? |

I just had a look on the AFL website. The NAB cup games seem to be in the category of "premium" which requires a subscription whereas last seasons games are still free in the standard replay model.
Is it clear somewhere that the real stuff will be subscription only or is this only applicable for the NAB cup because they're on Foxtel only? _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

They are offering "free" subscription to the NAB Cup, Stui (conditions apply) in the hope that we will all be suckers for it and, having got used to it, shell out good money for the real season. This sucks. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

The app, which used to work so well is now a piece of rubbish. You have to log on to watch a game that you have paid for. If you have forgotten your password like I have try and retrieve it! Grrr. Was hoping to watch the Eagles flog Carlton grrrr. Why don't they give the Internet rights to somebody competent? |

Have checked the AFL website. if you look carefully there are bits and pieces of replay available, but don't tell anyone, we don't want to spook the money hunters.
I currently have fetch TV as part of my telephone and broadband package, so I get Keeping up with the Kardashians and Disney channel for free, but to get Fox Footy would cost me an extra $50 per month. life is unfair, I know, but you have to make choices, especially as all my appliances have chosen to kamakaze themselves at once.
Watched the replay, it was so good. |

It costs about $80 for the full season IIRC. Might even have been a bit more.
For the right to watch every premiership and NAB game live and the replays on demand, I'm not complaining. _________________ Be Staunch, Be Proud, Be Collingwood |

The subscription for premium content via computer is $5 per week, which is $20 per month, which is $140 over 7 months. Then factor in the cost of replays over summer if you want them.
Yes, if you want to watch football live and all the other Fox analysis. But if like me you only want to watch the occasional replay - none if the Magpies lose, then the costs are more problematic. Having chosen to go down the computer road rather than the Foxtel road, it is a bit bizarre that the stuff I don't really want on Foxtel is available free, whereas the stuff I want is just out of reach, like the fox and the grapes.
The whole point of free to air is that it is free although like a meal at your parents place, you pay for it in other ways. |
