Beautiful playing surface, just hope the other grounds are as kind.

Good effort by the boys to break a hoodoo

Go Pies! Good midfield win (against dodgy opposition I know) without Pendles and Swan. Good small forward game too - Cloke not there I know but good running by Fas and Patty K and Jessie White up forward to break up some space.

I'd like to see Pendles and Swan in for one game to see how they go with Greenwood, Adams and Sidey in the middle - I reckon Pendles will have an armchair ride to the Brownlow! Razz

Forget the score but there was still a lot to like about the Pies effort.

Big improvement in disposal although still a few clambers. Pin point passes to the forward line was great to see.

Aggression and head over the ball

Working together in tight situations and generally making the right decision

Kicking for goal

smashed them on every line and most importantly the new recruits were fantastic. not getting to excited however because we had a much longer preseason then them and it showed. great spread of goal kickers and we would of smashed them by a lot more had they didn't play a man lose in the backs. better team won on the night. go pies.

Umpiring was a disgrace. Hawks played for the fake free kicks and we were robbed . But hey cheated as we were, Victory was ours. Go Pies

Nothing not to like about tonight, great result for our younger kids as they'll now know they're on the right track, don't underestimate what tonight's win will do for our kids confidence, even though it means nothing really.

very very happy with the performance of a few individuals, others may have performed really well but I don't mention them because I wasn't looking for them.

Gault. my boy. Put on some muscle definition and looks like he has his head right. He has skills, he needs to understand his role. He's looking to provide an option up forward and ruck.

PK. Paddy. Special K, Kernezis. Big Johno Brown blew so much sunshine up his arse from the commentary box that he couldn't help but float above the ground, but he did good. Real good, and worked hard. hard work doesn't come natural to PK but if/when he gets the hang of it we have a real serious talent here.

Fasolo. I've always rated him highly. Ticked every box of what I expect. Will be a fkn gun player.

De Goey. This kid is good. Real good. Seriously.

White. Drifted out of the game late but showed what he could do, throwing the body in and geebus the boy is quick and his hands looked good.

Sinclair I noticed because of his work.

Plenty of the others did what you'd expect. I really liked how the team responded when Bucks challenged them at 3/4 time to put the foot on the throat.

Promising display albeit against a Hawthorn side missing plenty from there premiership side.

Hope this new look forward line with an emphasis on players who can actually kick a goal is here to stay.

Who'd have thought that could actually work?

LOL.

P.S-What happened with Goldsack?

I must have missed something with the stop start stream I was watching.

It's great to win even if it's not for premiership points.

Particularly pleasing was the pressure and tackling - like the forward line pressure in 2010 yet all over the ground. Nice to see our kicking / handballing under pressure was much improved also.

Notice that this was 99% Buck's team - the majority of the team have only played under Bucks. I believe that this is proof that the great man WILL lead us to the ultimate glory!

Well plenty of positives. No-one broke their wrist, tore their hammy off the bone, did an acl or popped their shoulder. I simply can't believe it.

Looks like we're on track for round 1, round 1 is all that matters, then we move to round 2.

Remember guys, we had 5 weeks on the Hawks in our PS so please don't read much into tonight.

Corio is going off in my street, despite the threats to Centrelink benefits, the booze is flowing freely and a Pies win takes all the worries away.
