Steele has gone well past beams... we will miss him less than I thought.

Langdon is a gem, he reads it as well as Clement ever did.

benken is quickly becoming my fave player...he gets back up...and gets back up... and he does very smart football things.

Adams seems to be getting some of his nerves under control.

bruest is still allowed to go 360 in a tackle I see....

we could have a poker night v these pricks, win and i'd be happy.

so i'm happy. Very Happy

Great pre-season game. Plenty of run and tackling which equates to a good workout for both teams. No Hawthorn Backline and losing a key position player early opened them up. Tarzan turned up to play I hope he plays like that all year. Do Goey is a Goer. Jed Anderson will destroy teams, football smarts, fast and skillfull. A few negatives but plenty of positives. It's only a glorified practice match so we can't get to carried away.

One bloke stood out to me and that was Sam Mitchell, he was unreal and all class and was way ahead of anyone else on that field. I remember this kid at Eastern Rangers and no one would give him a go because he was to short. Hawthorn did and they got an absolute gem.

Was very pleased to see players honouring leads inside 50 rather than kicking long.

Thought the defensive set up looked good and restricted the speed of hawthorns ball movement.

Clearances! Dominant performance.

Loved seeing the young guys play, particularly Langdon in the number 8 and Degoey in 35.

Nice spread of goalkickers...and 17 goals. Hadn't kicked 17 goals since rd 11 2014.

A few points
1. I said after last years draft that
bucks was developing a "hard as a cats head" team.
It was truly evident last night. At least now I can see
one of his visions. I an not sure what the others are yet.
2. We still don't have many A grade players and this will kill us in 2015.
Look at the game of Mitchell - what a champion! Yes, we have a number
of potentials - one of which is Langdon the new
jimmy clement.
3. No Blair and we kicked over a 100 points.

NAB Cup please, pretend competition...

If my team won an AFL Premiership every damn decade I too would send my B side in.

you and chessboy must have missed the memo when it was scrapped as a competition.

it is simply a practice match circuit with a sponsor. nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah it was like watching Mitchell versus Collingwood. There was a nice moment though when De Goey beat him at a centre clearance and burst away. Also Goldy almost hot him in tackle, but he was a touch late.

Look Mitchell has one or two more years left (agree he is a champ) but our best young midfield talent will emerge during that time.

That really was one of the more enjoyable pre season games to watch, and the post game reaction from Hawthorn making excuse after excuse has made it even better.

As for us the future is as bright as most of us expected and hoped it would be. Langdon will replace Maxwell, Varcoe is as good if not better then Lumumba at this stage of their careers and Greenwood is better then Luke Ball was in his final season.

The best signs last night were from the forward line though. Seeing Fasolo and Karnezis actually hit the scoreboard whenever they got a chance showed how much we were missing that element to our attack last season.

I predicted us to finish anywhere from 4th to 10th this season, and although it was only one hit out I'm happy with that still.

Very happy. Great effort by the boys. It is great to see the emerging talent and potential in our ranks,

Next.

Gault. my boy. Put on some muscle definition and looks like he has his head right. He has skills, he needs to understand his role. He's looking to provide an option up forward and ruck.

Saw none of the game last night and was wondering how Gault performed.
He was a big agile unit in the last game of the season and looked good.
Glad to hear he did well and I'm hoping he will develop as the season progresses.

De Goey looks the hard nut dishing out the clearances, a facet of our game that's been sorely lacking the last few years.

Apart from a few butchered kicks (names withheld) I was mostly pleased with their kicking. Both field and shots on goal seemed more accurate than days past. Anyone give me an overall kicking efficiency for the night?

I noticed 2 negatives, Marley hearing foot steps during the second (and he didn't have a great game), and Freemans ridiculous blind Kick into the corridor that cost us a goal, but I guess that's why we play these games to iron the chinks out, but Marley going half assed did surprise me.

I've been watching Marley closely since his return last year defender.....he does some great things but there are a few things that worry me about his game and last night they bobbed up yet again. Its almost a vein of laziness throughout his game at times.

He's a little bit like faz, we keep seeing glimpses of star. Will they take the next step I guess is the question.

yes, but Marley got the ball back straight away, then lost it again, and got it back straight away again. But yes, i agree he has not reached the level he was at the previous year. Looks smaller to me across the shoulders and arms.
