Thursday. 7.10pm AEDT

Collingwood v. Hawthorn.

Aurora Stadium.

------------------------------------

I think we are going to take this game and the whole NAB Challenge so I think we will be a chance as I don’t think the Hawks would be as Serious as they are about a month behind us in Pre-Season as we missed the Finals and the won the Flag
------------------------------------

* Dave, if you create a pre match thread, please include venue and starting time.

Sorry DTM, but why every year we pretend the preseason comp (insert sponsor's name here) matters is beyond me.

DTM, might be a good time to lower your expectations. The club will want to achieve certain outcomes from the game but im not sure that winning will be the main one. It wasnt long ago that the whinge twins were orchestrating match ups against each other in the preseason, with a view to benefit both teams. Pies could certainly win but i wouldnt see it as a true guide to where we are at in 2015.
As long as there are no significant injuries... to collingwood players anyway.

As long as we can get out without any injuries I will be happy, it'd be good for some of the players to get a good hitout against a top four side just to prepare them for the season ahead.

Scoreboard will be running.

Dave, Moore is no chance to play. In fact, if Moore plays next week we should demand the match committee resign en masse. Moore is not fit. He'll be ready to play VFL in a week or two from what I've seen at training. Reid, Young, Marsh, Macaffer and Seedsman are not ready either.

The rest of the list could play. They may elect to rest Pendles, Swan and Greenwood but we have a pretty healthy list to choose from. From what I saw last night, I'd play Pendlebury.

Jackcass is right I think; it's all just opinion. I have no inside knowledge, nor an analytical mindset. I go to training and report what I see. After watching training pretty closely, I reckon Manteit is gonna be a beauty - I've said it all summer, but he could just be a preseason wonder. I've been wrong plenty of times. I trumpeted Mark Orval, Kent Butcher, Luke Godden and Stephen Cliffoird to name but a few. I was also a big wrap on Russell Johnston Very Happy

Based on what I've seen and what the Club has told us, this is my shot for next week.

B. Sinclair Brown Toovey
HB. Williams Frost Varcoe
C. Sidey Adams Pendles
HF. Elliott Cloke Broomhead
F. Goldy Keeffe Karnezis
R. Grundy Kennedy Freeman
INT: Fasolo Blair Thomas DeGoey Freeman Crisp White Ramsay Manteit

Unavailable: Swan, Reid, Moore, Greenwood, Marsh, Maynard, Young, Sharenberg, Seedsman

You were spot on about Stephen 'Bomber' Clifford Neil. He went on to become one of Port Adelaide's greatest players. My understanding is that his only problem at Collingwood was that there was an 'in' group at the time and he was frozen out. I was very disappointed when he left to return to the Port Magpies.

But I digress. Your selections look pretty good. But I think White will be given a run as well. He looked in terrific physical shape on Thursday night, and he could be a big improver for us this year.

Where did I say Moore would Play?

He might play in the VFL Practise Matches when they start

A win wont mean much but a bad loss will mean just a little more.

To win is always better.

To me these games are all about the kids and the new faces at the club like Varcoe and Crisp.

Beating Hawthorn in the upcoming home and away season is what I want.

Hawks smashed every team they played last pre season.
So a competitive performance and signs of the gameplan gelling should be what we are hoping for.

No injuries
Get the rust off
Try some players in new positions
A win is an optional extra
