Depending on how we go in our final practice game, I expect the following new faces in round one.
Greenwood
Varcoe
Crisp
De Goey
Freeman (assuming he plays well against the bulldogs).
Gault looks like securing a spot as well. |

My effort for Round 1, based on latest info:
B: Toovey, Brown, Williams
HB: Langdon, Reid, Goldsack
C: Swan, Adams, Varcoe
HF: Elliott, Cloke, Sidebottom
F: Kennedy, White, Witts
R: Grundy, Pendlebury, Greenwood
I: Fasolo, Karnezis, Broomhead, Crisp
E: De Goey, Ramsay, Sinclair
Goldsack to play back on this occasion, if Brisbane play a 3 bigs combination. Frost's untimely injury may just have set him back too much. Come back to this one after NAB 3.
Depending on how many of their smalls they play, we may need to play an extra small defender, especially if we move Williams up the ground to tag. Hence, Sinclair and Ramsay in the emergencies.
A tad unfair to Gault to pick White ahead of him, but it's good that he is giving Jesse some competition. NAB 3 might determine who gets a spot in round 1.
Reid is a best guess as to whether he will have enough miles in his legs to start, but he will hopefully play NAB 3 on Saturday and their is a VFL practice match the Thursday after that he can run around in to top up his minutes as well. If he's not ready, Frost comes in if he's fit. If not, well, we might have to play Toovey as a tall back and bring in the extra small as a consequence.
Karnezis and Crisp in to face their old club. Patty more to add extra firepower to the forward line, while Crisp is in as the 'best of the rest' selection. I hope both can play a role in winning and sticking it up that smug ranga...
De Goey rewarded for his preseason form with an emergency berth, although if he smashes it in NAB 3, he might just squeeze into the side.
Concerns going around that Broomhead might be a little bit underdone, in which case he is the ideal candidate for sub. Failing that, he might get squeezed out if we have to bring in others.
Cloke moves to CHF, both for his own form and out collective sanity. Cloke leading hard and long might force our players to fashion kicks other than long high bailout bombs to the goal square. Maybe. _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |

^ other than a dislike for sinkers, why is he an emergency? if fit, i see him playing every game for us.
i would be surprised if ramsay got games this year if we do not sustain any injuries in the backs. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

It's pretty simple Gault to play every position on the ground. Cloke to be the sub and come on only if we get desperate or Gault is tired after kicking his 8th deep into time on. |

Toovey Brown Frost
Sinclair Reid Langdon
Swan Adams Kennedy
Elliott White Sidebottom
Fasolo Cloke Goldsack
Grundy Pendles Greenwood
Williams, De Goey, Karneszis, Freeman
E: Varcoe, Broomhead, Gault
Witts not yet ready for Rnd 1.
Can we play Keefe, Frost, Brown and Reid? I don't think so.
One misses out for mine and that's Keefe at this stage. |

Nothing sinister. I just rate Williams and Toovey higher as small defenders.
I did indicate though that if Williams pushes up the ground as the most likely candidate to fill the void left by Macaffer's injury as a tagger, or gets dropped, then Sinclair or Ramsay comes in to fill that other small defender.
You're right, I don't rate Sinclair, but again, if we need the extra small defender, then he or Ramsay comes in. I'd go with Ramsay as a younger guy with a higher ceiling than Sinclair. But I expect Sinclair will get the nod. _________________ I am vengeance. I am the night. I am MagpieBat. |

Sorry but no way would they play Karneszis befor Varcoe. And it's going to be interesting with gault. I'd say he's ahead of white at the moment. A good show in nab 3 and he's in. Even frost might be surplus to requirements down back with goldsack able to swing back. Then broomhead might sneak in however buckleys love for Blair will see him in for sure. |

Williams Brown Toovey
Langdon Reid Goldsack
Sidebottom Pendles Varcoe
Fasolo White/Gault Elliott
Blair Cloke Kennedy
Grundy/Witts Swan Greenwood
Adams Thomas Sinclair
Sub De Goey
Karnezis almost got a spot week 1 lost it week 2, probably doesn't get a game NAB 3
Crisp closer than he was and could sneak in after NAB 3
Broomhead slipped right down the order, can't see him getting a game NAB 3 so needs so good VFL form before considered
Freeman let him do his VFL time and build
Oxley impressed last week, hope he gets a spot this week.
Witts and Grundy places depend on fitness also
Frost hopefully fit and could be in round 1 if good this week
Keeffe, Seedsman need gametime to get fit, start VFL |

Fasolo has to be a certainty. Did you forget him or left him out? |

After Balme's comments on injuries today, it doesn't look like Reid will play round 1, so there's a spot for another backman. |
