ASADA jokes aside, Champion data via their "Prospectus 2015" edition have rated Jobe Watson statistically as the "most effective kicking disposer" of 2014. A massive turnaround from 2003-2008 when he could barely his the side of a barn door.

Messrs: Marley, Toovey, Crisp, Adams, Keefe, Sinclair, Swan take note!

I don't think it's a J Watson phenomenon. I think lots of players show improvement in their use of the footy as they develop physically and become established into senior teams.

Thought it was interesting earlier this year that Adams said he was learning to maintain/improve the standard of his disposal through fatigue. Pendles was his inspiration for how it can be done.

I think too often fans form opinions early in a players career and can't move on in their thinking.

To quote a man involved in sport as a coach amongst other thing
"When we fail to prepare--we prepare to fail"
Laurie Lawrence.
Pre season prep is important and two guys in particular had not the best
prep in 2014 for different reasons and have been going great guns namely
Mr.Grundy and Mr.Williams so with a better run up to season 2015 a chance
to improve skills
All who believe they should be in best 22 work hard to get your spot

Well, Jobe gets so much practice - kicking himself for taking the substance that might just lose him his Brownlow.

Agree with improved fitness levels equals improved disposal efficiency ( assuming you can hit a target in the first place ). Lactic acid build up is a major contributor to muscles not working cohesively. A solid uninterupted pre season is a great starting point to improving your disposal efficiency, particularly late in a game.

I put Jobe in the Collingwood section (whilst also removing my duffle coat cheer leading tendencies) because this area of disposal is the most "fundamental issue" the Pies face in 2015. It shall determine whether we rise to 6th which is a realistic goal or meander between 10th to 13th on the ladder.

Your point is a very sound one inxs88.

Our kicking was pus last year and if we're to improve it needs to get a whole lot better quickly.

Jobe is a great example of someone who had a glaring weakness in his game and worked and worked and worked on it until he remedied it and it is now a strength of his. Closer to home Benny Johnson is another who turned his kicking efficiency right around from being a clanger specialist at the beginning to become a reliable and at times penetrating kick for us.

It can be done and I have faith our boys will put in the work necessary to improve this problem area.

Team strategy has a lot to do with it.

Our playing style has a lot of close handballs and then some run and a long kick...

Jobe has improved his stats by adding a lot more short kicks to his game - I think we should do the same... Hawks use it well but it relies on teammates working hard for each other - but the benefits are huge!

Posession without pressure allows for precision passing! Sorry about the spray Smile

ben johnson improved his kicking by the end of his career. sinclair's kicking has also improved immensely.
