Scam Warne's "charity" gives just 16c in the donation dollar to actual good causes. The rest goes on drinks, travel, entertainment, "rent" and "wages" paid, by some wild coincidence, to members of his family .....

Seems like a cricket ball isn't the only thing he can put a big, sneaky twist on.

Didn't this government get rid of the charity watchdog? As much as I loathe patriotism, I've steadily come to the conclusion that it is charity, instead, that is the last refuge of the scoundrel.

Not for Profit agencies should be held to the same disclosure standards as publically listed companies and made to publish a detailed annual report.

So many of them are just thinly disguised rorts it's ridiculous, and that includes many of the very well known ones.

It's more than a 'rort' when he is making money out of false pretenses... "Con" is a more suitable description, especially when they claim they're raising money for sick kids.

Yes, cutting red tape David. Both Mal & The mad Monk are cut from the same cloth.

Anyway I'm setting up the "watt price tully" foundation & we aim to assist "drunk drivers" & young white males who fear feminists.

You can donate at yobbo.com.au

We are determined to ensure that 17c in the dollar is targeted to those in need - better than Warnie. My brother will only get $190,000 per year - again much better than Warnie's brother.

^ If your brother is young and likes a drink, you can give him the 17c as well.

Good. Charities should be covered by fraud laws and they should produce and publish audited accounts. People who wish to donate should then do so as adults. The government has no business compelling money by force from all taxpayers to head off some who are lax with their own money.

On the Warne charity, well, he's a man of such proven integrity and high standards that what could possibly go wrong ?

I don't quite understand what you're saying there, Mugwump. Are you arguing against, say, our taxes (which of course are taken from us involuntarily) funding cancer research and foreign aid? I don't see a fundamental difference between that and most charitable causes.

Just so David. If Mugwamp was going to be consistent and logical (rather than just mindlessly idealogical) about this he would be even more against compelling money by force from all taxpayers to fund all those other (much more expensive) agencies which exist just to monitor and safeguard compliance with the laws, such as, in particular, the police force.

Not even extreme right-wing anti-government idealogues like Wokko would support Mugwamp's view.

Well, probably not. With Wokko you never quite know.

First, some humour.

Second, Private policing shouldn't be discounted out of hand.

To be honest, I'm yet to form a concrete opinion either way, I'll need to do some more reading.
