So, the game is due to get underway in just under 45 minutes. The forecast for Auckland is for "showers" and there are suggestions it is presently bucketing down in West Auckland, although there were clear skies over the ground itself a couple of minutes ago.

The game is on free to air today, on one of the companion channels (GEM, I think - but maybe GO), if anyone wants to watch it.

I'll try to give some updates but they may be sporadic in the middle of the afternoon.

SA won the toss and are batting. That, at least, means that SA won't have to chase 400 or 500, so that was a very important toss to win.

They are presently 0/10 after 2 overs.

SA now 2/33 after 8.2 overs. Amla and De Kock both out. Trent Boult has both wickets and now has 21 for the tournament, the most by any NZ bowler in a World Cup.

SA have recovered somewhat. 2/76 after 19 - the run rate just a whisker under 4 per over.

SA now picking up the pace a little. 2/112 after 25.5 overs, at about 4.3 per over.

But the fifth bowler (Anderson) makes the breakthrough: RR Rossouw c Guptill b Anderson 39 (53b 2x4 1x6).

That brings ABdeV to the crease, so this is a critical period of the game.

SA are starting to wrest control in this game. They are 4/266, with one over to go. Miller is 43 off 16 and ABdeV is 65 off 45. A rain interruption after 38 overs has reduced the game to 43 overs a side. The final SA score will be adjusted under the less-than transparent D/L method, so we won't know the actual NZ target until that calculation's been done.

Oh, there goes Miller - a 6 and then out. A well-fashioned 49 from 18 balls. SA 5/272. 4 balls to go.

NZ 0/71 off 4.5 overs. BMc going (59 off 24 - just a slogger, really) but Guptill is sitting on the splice (6 off 5). NZ needs less than 6 an over from here.

Imran Tahir has bowled a maiden (and very nearly got Guptill lbw). No mean feat with NZ going at better than 14 per over when he came on.

And the building pressure gets McCullum at the other end! Big wicket for Morkel. NZ 1/71 after 6.1 overs. Now, SA probably still have to beat Guptill before they worry about the rest of the NZ line-up.

And now Morkel has sent Williamson back to the pavilion. NZ 2/81 after 9.

A mix-up sees Guptill run-out, so SA have got him and BMc out of the way. 3/132 after 17.2 overs - a further 166 required from 25.2 overs (required run rate from here of 6.55).
