NZ 2/187 after 34.5 overs. Lucky the Windies got McCullum for 12, wasn't it? Guptill is 100 n.o. off 111 and Taylor is 32 off 55. Probably looking at a 360 to 370 score here, with 12 an over off the last 15. Powerplay about to come, so could get seriously nasty for WI here.

NZ 5/333 after 46.3 overs. Guptill is 194 n.o. off 149. Elliott just out for 27 off 11. Still on target for 370 (+, if Guptill stays until the end).

And Guptill brings up his 200 with a four (after missing bringing it up with a 6 by a shot that failed to clear the rope by a few feet in the last over). That's 203 n.o. off 152 balls. Take a bow!

He now has the only double hundred in a world cup knock out game and is (at the moment) 68 ahead of Gilchrist's previous high score in a knock out game (a now modest-looking 149). He heads a table that follows with Gilchrist, Ponting and Sir Isaac - some rare company to head.

And NZ finish with 6/393 - Guptill 237 not out from 163 balls. He took 20 off the last over, including 2 sixes.

He reached his 100 from 111, so that's the next 137 from 52!!!

His stats were 237 not out in 223 minutes from 163 balls at a scoring rate of 145.39 per 100 balls, with 24 4s and 11 6s.

I think there's a reasonable chance he'll be named Man of the Match (unless the WIndies pull off a most unlikely win, in which case you can expect one C Gayle to take that award).

That's true, as far it goes, DTM. But there have been lots of World Cup games where teams have been playing poor opposition but only 2 double-hundreds - and this score was the highest in a knock-out stage game by almost 90 runs. Credit where it is due, eh?

I was not talking about the Massive Score Guptill made.

I meant the game would be a Massive Fizzer.

Though NZ has a Super Tough game now vs South Africa

^^^ Fair enough. The game looked on when McCullum went cheaply (just as well or 450 or 500 might have been on the cards!!!) but it seems to be over before the WIndies start to bat.

... And 2/30 after 6 overs won't help the chase (although Gayle is still at the crease, so all is not - yet - lost).

101 off 12 overs. Unfortunately, the WIndies suffered a double-wicket maiden in the tenth over. Gayle us stull there, hus 48 not out uncludes suvun suxes (I'm going wuth the NZ commentary theme).

The wheels on the West Indian bus are now officially square. 7/201 after 25. They look like finishing a hundred or more short - but with a better net run rate!

And there it is: they've caught Guptill - and they only need 29 overs to do it. Now, for the rest of the NZ innings....

And, in the end, NZ won by 143 runs. WI all out for 250 - with almost 20 overs to spare and needing only 8.2 an over for the remainder, had they contrived to keep wickets in hand. I get the sense that they could have made a serious game of this, despite the huge ask, if they hadn't let the pressure force them to go hard at every ball.
