Going to have a conversation tomorrow with her and junior, find out a bit more. I'm surprised I haven't heard from her mum. Would be good. I'd like to think my daughters friends parents would do the same for junior if the need arises, though, yeah I just can't see that! I'd lay down at the door to stop em leaving!

Maybe her story is just that little to close to my own....

Just learned that my grandfather died tonight. Had a heart attack and passed away in the hospital. He did well to make it to 77; smoked heavily and didn't have a particularly healthy diet. We weren't that close, but it's saddening to think that I won't see him again. I feel bad for my mother, too, and my grandmother – will be a hard time for both of them.

Condolences David. Just came across it now.

Thanks WPT. Was just thinking about him today and the last time I talked to him on the phone.

Unlike us noble meat-eaters down here, of course.

They live near the Arctic Circle, so it's pretty obvious that whale would be one of the few things on the menu.

Is it the method that disturbs you? I doubt they chose it for fun.

Cast your doubts aside

http://www.seashepherd.org/commentary-and-editorials/2014/06/27/why-are-whales-and-dolphins-killed-in-the-faroe-islands-655

Is tradition for fun?

They kill far more than they intend to eat.

And as with factory farmed animals, my 'beef' is with the barbaric outdated sacrificial methods they 'choose' to use. The terror of those mammals.....its $Ł$%^%%$ disgusting.

They need to keep in practice, of course. Also, you've got to make sure their numbers don't get too high - you wouldn't want them coming in and taking jobs from the locals and destroying the Faroe way of life.

I felt sad last night and this morning when I saw Bernie Geary the Victorian Child Safety Commisoner on the news choking up when he talked about the kid who said she's knows she's not speacial in anyone's eyes.

I lost my best buddy today. Daics Dower born on the 11/11/00, was the most amazing Bull Terrier a guy could ever have.
A very sad day at the Daicos Bar today. Crying or Very sad

Hugs mate, there is no love like the total unadulterated love of a dog. I'm so sorry for your loss. I know the rainbow bridge thing is a bit too girly for this forum, but I like to believe, the day I pass over, all my furbubs, big and small, (including a bull terrier, Mischief) are waiting there for me.

RIP Daics. Xxx

Thanks guys.

The place is so lonely without my shadow right now.

Some of the boys reckon the team should wear black armbands this weekend Smile.

He really loved game day in the Daicos Bar. He always knew the boys were coming around when I'd open the Bar, load the fridge and bring out the BBQ utensils. Daics would wait by the gate for each mate to roll up, escorting them to the bar, tail in full swing and that unmistakeable smile on his dial. Every time the Pies put through a major Daics would join in the celebrations with a few of his customary spins and barks. He'd also go nuts when we joined in with Good Old Collingwood after a victory.

Daics enjoyed a fairly successful period. Seeing 4 GFs and loving the 2010 cup as much as any of us.

Flying out to work tomorrow is gunna be just that little bit tougher than usual.
