Yes, very slowly, very painfully and then uploaded to You Tube.

Terrific idea. Let's become just as barbaric as they are.

Indeed it does. Thank God we don't live in a theocratic society, hey!

Thank God indeed that we have the NEW TESTAMENT that pretty much superseded the old one.

These dirt-bagging peddlers of misery know exactly what the penalties are when they carry drugs in some of these countries, but when they get caught, they expect the Federal Government, to get them out of it.

Of course, the death penalty is way over the top for the crime, but they know & accept the risk when they enter these countries.

Not one cent of taxpayers money should be spent trying to save them.

And don't get me started on the Boogie Board <snip>.

So this would be the new one that is only 2000 years out of date, as opposed to the superseded old one that is now 2500 years out of date?

Or are we talking something quite advanced and modern which superseded both of them, such as the Koran, which is only 1400 years out of date?

But that too has been superseded by the Book of Mormon, which is a mere couple of centuries out of date.

However on reflection, since we really want the latest and best information, like 8 million others around the world, we had better consult the Kitáb-i-Aqdas, which superseded all of the above and and is only 140 years out of date. So far as religious books to replace all religious books go, it practically still has the ink wet.

Quibbling about Old and New Testaments is a bit silly, I don't see Jews still following every letter of the Laws of Moses. Not sure how religious people of an Abrahamic bent (Jews, Christians and Muslims) manage to reconcile picking and choosing between immutable laws of God, but I'll save that for another thread.

L.Ron Hubbard begs to differ.

They just pick the ones that suit them. Everything else, they ignore.

Not so.

The others I mentioned are actual religions, whereas L.Ron Hubbard's Scientology is just a clever trick to take over the minds of, and with any luck benefit from, the credulous and not-so-bright ....

... er .....

Sorry.

As you were.

Sorry. Sad I actually thought of mentioning him at one point, but then I forgot.

His novels, by the way, back before he (got religion/thought of a better scam), were pretty amazing. I have quite a few of them. They are like Twisties or McDonalds hamburgers. You know perfectly well they aren't food, you feel a bit guilty about encouraging the bastards by giving them money, and sometimes you consume a few of them anyway for no good reason you can possibly think of - becoming more and more convinced that they are not food with every mouthful as, in the back of your mind, that little part of you which watches everything and thinks more deeply tries to figure out why you are still eating and what the secret recipe is that makes you do it.

(In my defence, I hasten to point out that I took care not to buy any of LRH's books new in case any of my money went to his estate and, via that, to some cruel ripoff of the dopes his "religion" targets. I bought them second-hand. At one time there were zillions of mint copies available second-hand 'coz, frankly, they are rubbish and no-one who bought them thought they were worth keeping.)

(Thus far, I haven't tried second-hand Twisties or McDonalds hamburgers, though I should imagine that used ones taste much the same as fresh ones, differing only by being slightly more nutritious.)
