Very curious to see what the local "mercy" lobby (i.e. Tony Abbott, the News Limited tabloids and everyone else who suddenly discovered a profound personal aversion to the death penalty in the last couple of months) make of that. I'm expecting a deafening silence.

Your expectations will be realised I'm quite sure.

He isn't Australian.

Not certain he's American even.

Either way it's up to politicians and citizens opposed to the death penalty from his country of birth/citizenship to voice there concerns not us.

Just because people are opposed to the death penalty doesn't mean they will and should voice there disapproval every time a foreigner is sentenced to death.

Most people don't have the energy for that and nor do the masses in listening to it.

Quite right, but politicians are asked about far more trivial things. If the question does come up, it will be interesting to hear what the response is.

There are no votes in fighting the good fight for a convicted terrorist that isn't an Australian citizen.

It will be interesting to see & hear the response when the inevitable terrorist attack occurs here.
