I live in Somerville and it’s a lovely place to live. Can get to the City, Close to some Fantastic Beaches and also have some Great Wineries to go to.
Great Place for a Holiday as well.
National Geographic said it’s about the Top Place to go vist in Australia.

Pretty much never been there, Dave. I've always assumed that, being so close to Melbourne, it is overrun with tasteless development and given it a miss.
I did go down the peninsula to the Rye Back Beach once, but that was 30-something years ago and I don't remember it at all. Well, I remember the stunning blonde girl I went there with, it was our first date and we wound up living together for some years after that; still friends today though she lives overseas now. .... As for the place ... complete blank, can't remember a thing! _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

I used to drive through it (30 years ago) surfing at Flinders or Pt Leo but didn't see much to get excited about (except Sharran and Raylene at the fish an chip shop).
I fished for whiting there a few years ago but the fish and chip has long gone and new houses (and wineries) have swallowed up just about all I remember of the place...
My surfers knees are long gone and being close to Melbourne and full of Holiday makers at the moment I'm happy remembering the way it was.
Maybe I'll go back one winter and throw another line in in, I love whiting! |

My brother and his (now) wife lived in an old house in Rye for a year, and I loved going down there to visit. Beautiful, tranquil, probably a bit touristy at the wrong time of year but it almost seemed like we had the place to ourselves when we went to their local beach on Christmas Day. Good memories. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

I will be heading down Saturday to set up on the Rye Foreshore once again. We stay for 10 weeks (3 solid) and the rest we are on and off as it depends on work.
We have many friends we camp with and have watched their kids grow up, marry and have kids. |

Ton of Fun down there for Kids. | I'm on the committee, average turnover is around 400000 people between November and March and that is just campers. |

I'm also a local Dave. Five minutes walk from the beach.
Been here all my life apart from 3 years living in North Melbourne in my early 20s.
To be honest, I love living down here. Tourist season can make it difficult to get around, but I've learned to live with it as much as possible.
Tannin, you have assumed wrong. |
