At least you admit it. What would make you thought that he'd have back-up if it were the latter? |

^ I agree David - it's why I wonder if he is related to someone arrested under the terrorism laws for aiding funding etc. _________________ “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” |

Very much a lone crazy, doesn't mean it's not a terror plot organised or otherwise. Lots of these "lone Wolf" types attach themselves to a cause. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

A new era in terrorism is emerging and the lone wolf is at the forefront. From Anders Breivik in Norway, who murdered scores of young people in a bombing and mass-shooting attack, to Nidal Malik Hasan in the United States, who killed many of his fellow soldiers after opening fire at a military base, lone wolves have demonstrated that they can be as dangerous as organized terrorist groups. Who are these terrorists and what can be done about them?

I want to make a prediction...
I reckon he was looking for a bank and stumbled in the Lindt shop by mistake.
There's a St George across the road or maybe he wasn't happy with the verdict of the X factor and was heading for channel 7!
All that glitters isn't banks or reality TV etc...
Explains the lack of demands and any clear motive for his actions unless he just likes chocolates!
Maybe I'm wrong but if the Missus doesn't get her Lindt chocolate at least once a week I have to tie her to the old oak tree on the night of the full moon.

Their choice of language leaves a great deal to be desired also.

Was great to see the Grand Mufti disown this stuff and to hear people referring to themselves as Australian Muslims ringing in to the radio disowning this stuff as well.

What about the not so Grand Mufti?
BTW, how many lone wolves make a pack? _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Well, it might be an inopportune moment but that is quite amusing nonetheless _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Two things.
Firstly, he might be acting under instruction, even from someone/somewhere overseas.
Secondly, time will tell if this is merely a distraction for something else. Unlikely yes, but certainly a possibility.
I personally don't think this individual is intending to get out of this situation alive. Let's hope he doesn't take anyone else out with him. _________________ Spiral progress, unstoppable,

This is great - this is how we should respond to what is happening in Sydney today - don't let the actions of one or a few on any side for any demented reason change our way of life, make us afraid and turn us against each other when for the vast majority we share the same love of freedom we have in this country !!
I have faith in our emergency personnel that they can end this peacefully without loss of life - and now it is dark and no lights - but still I think we aren't cowboys and if they can they will!
AFTER a volatile day at both Martin Place and on social media, there are fears that Muslims could be targeted on our streets.
However a heartwarming hashtag has emerged on Twitter tonight, with hundreds of Australians offering to accompany Muslims to work tomorrow in case they dont feel safe.
The hashtag #illridewithyou has begun trending on Twitter, with commuters volunteering to travel on buses and trains on transport networks across the nations capital cities.
Some offered to take the train or bus with worried Muslim companions, while others offered to give them a lift in their cars.
The hashtag is being widely praised as a way of combating racism and bringing Australians together _________________ “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”

A sawn off shottie needs bugger all skill to do some serious damage at close range, just a reasonably strong wrist.
Poor bastards still in there would be going through some serious mental issues. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
