You didn't mention Ben Reid after the initial paragraph. Did he train or was he not there at all?
On Karnezis, I'm surprised about the comment on him possibly being a mid. My impression is that he's a very laconic type of character but very smart with the footy. Knows what's going on around him and really knows how to find the goals. I didn't think he was being looked at as a mid at all. Just curious where that thought came from.
Again though... great write up. A bit worried that even in simulated match practice our backs are performing the same as last year (turnovers, poor options etc). Fingers crossed that gets fixed in the next 10-12 weeks eh! |
Ben wasn't there at all today.
Regarding Karnezis, this was just wishful thinking on my part to see a Pendlebury sized player like him on a wing or getting a run through the midfield. I don't think the club sees him there. After recruiting the big bodies this draft though and if we add in Shazza, then we won't need Karnezis there anyway. |

Read the report, he finished well back, not surprising though considering his weight. _________________ Defender...........

Yes, not sure why people see him as a mid, he's a dead eye dick goal kicker who punches above his weight as a contested mark, he's also clever on the lead, Bucks didn't like his defensive efforts last season though, hopefully he can improve in that regard. _________________ Defender...........

Let's hope it amounts to something, I know it's a big call but if he doesn't he's in danger of being delisted. _________________ Defender...........

Thanks Neil, great report.
"-Maynard will be mistaken for Pendlebury I reckon; look similar on the field."
I thought the same thing as soon as I saw him. Definitely looks like Pendles. _________________ carn the mighty pies! |

It's not a big call, it's a stupid call. The coaches, and Bucks, love him. He fought back from leg surgeries and was unfit, hence why being the emergency every week. This is straight from all the horses' mouths at the members' meeting. _________________ Est. 2002 |

Thanks for adding this loki04. I was thinkig about the time trial last night and wasso disappointed with Karnezis's effort. I like many I suppose, have this romantic idea, that this Collingwood fanatic will become a star for us. I've watched him at training and seen some VFL games and I've seen flashes of class. If the boy had gastro, he gets points for even turning up. It explains why he fell away so badly during the last lap. Good on him.
As a side note, my uncle who is in his 80s, talks regularly with an old friend who has a son that is involved with the Pies. Let's call this guy Harry shall we. Harry told my uncle last night that the next time he goes to training, take binoculars and watch a young player closely. His son reckons this boy is all class and was a draft steal. His name is Matthew Goodyear. _________________ After the epic draw comes the decisive knockout!

They do, actually. It was the reason why they got him. Hine said as much the day the trade went through.
He actually played midfield for the last month of this year's VFL season. Did pretty well, and was one of our prime movers at times, but the move ended up robbing us of our best forward at that level. He was also one of Brisbane's best midfielders in the NEAFL in 2013.
So, he has the scope to do it.
I imagine they'll continue on with the experiment in 2015...
In any event, great report Neil, terrific stuff! |
