I can't understand why so many Nicksters have picked Brown at CHB , surely he is too slow for CHB . He's almost too slow for Full Back .
I'm loving the choices we have now . Now all we need is a good run with injuries , so that we have those choices all 2015 .

The only problem with playing Reid down back is that we don't have a full forward and that's a pretty big problem. |
reid is a lock for the team irrespective of where he is named. by naming him in the forward line it allows some of us to fit in the likes of frost, brown and keeffe as tall backs.
naming reid as a forward also supports your assertion that we don't have a full forward or another marking target down there. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

Brown ran a 2.9 sec speed over 20m in his draft year. That's not slow. |

Getting close I reckon. Round 1 team to come from the team you named and the possiblity of 1 or more of the 9 I've listed as emergencies.
- Witts, Grundy, White... only 2 play, question will be which 2?
- Brown, Keeffe, Frost... only 2 play, question will be which 2?
- Seedsman, Fasolo, Goldsack, Sinclair, Thomas, Young, Oxley, Karnezis... only 2 play, question will be which 2? I'm thinking leg speed will be critical v Brions.
- Kennedy - Blair... only 1 plays, question will be which 1?
- Freeman... will he get a round 1 crack or eased into it via a few pre-season and VFL games? I'm thinking ANZAC Day debut.
- Crisp and Karnezis debut for the Pies against their old club?
- Love your optimism (and Caffs) but can't see Macaffer getting up for round 1 at any level. |

Gotta say this is one tough ask. So many of our new players don't have exposed senior form to go on - or the exposed form is so limited that you couldn't put them in over other incumbents.
Anyway... here's my two cents worth. Someone has to remember to come back to this in the week leading up to round 1 to see how close we were!
FF Karnezis Cloke Broomhead
HF Elliott Reid Varcoe
C Greenwood Pendles Adams
HB Young Frost Langdon
B Williams Brown Toovey
FOL Witts Swan Sidebottom
INT Freeman Keeffe Dwyer Goldsack
PS - Yes, I realise I've put Freeman in there on ZERO exposed form. Just like the look of the kid. Looks built to rock'n'roll already! He's my exception! _________________ Side By Side Forever |

Pre-season is now back in full swing from the Christmas break - who's looking the goods?
Here's my Round 1 team (January ‘15 Edition)
B: Toovey Brown Williams
HB: Sinclair Frost Langdon
C: Freeman Swan Sidebottom
HF: Varcoe Gault Goldsack
F: Fasolo Cloke Elliot
Rucks: Witts, Pendlebury, Greenwood
Int: Grundy, Adams, Broomhead
Sub: Seedsman
From the December Edition
IN: Gault, Fasolo
OUT: Reid, Young
Obviously dependent on NAB form but the potential loss of Reid up forward is a real concern. White can’t take a mark and then there is the question: can Moore play forward yet? I’d hate to see him exposed like Watts was when he first played. Therefore I think Gault will get first crack. He looked ok against the Hawks last year. Will we pull the trigger on a Rookie upgrade so early? |

I think the possible loss of Reid can be overcome by playing Witts out of the goal square, changing with Grundy who will assume the mantle of first ruck because of his greater mobility. This would allow Cloke to be used at CHF, where he plays his best football. White can then play as the 3rd marking option on the forward line, or if that line-up is considered too top heavy, we could use a combination of Karnezis and/or Goldy instead. |

Yeah like the sound of that. Would allow for De Goey to slot onto the bench too. |
