I mentioned it a couple of times but I do wonder why we don't seem to have guys playing quality footy into their 30's. Teams like Sydney, Hawthorn, and Geelong seem to have more than their fair share. Is it a game style thing? Is it more specific to the type of player we've historically drafted?

Provided he's over his 2014 injuries, it wouldn't surprise me to see Swanny playing until he's 34 or so. Pendles has another 6 years too.

Everything crossed that Swanny, Pendles, Cloke and Sidebottom types break the trend, Witts and Grundy dominant rucks into their early-mid 30s would be nice.

I read that article. Interesting to read 2010 was the youngest premiership side since 1978. Took Hawthorn 5 years to make their next grand final and win the flag.

Most interesting was there was only 6 players out of 20 from 1978 who played in the 1983 side (Eade, Wallace, Dipper, Tuck, Matthews....all pretty handy players {and all but Matthews still there in 1986}, plus McCarthy). It was Jeans' 3rd season at the helm.

If we have a 7 year run a la Hawthorn 1983-89 who of us would complain ?
