Smith's numbers for the series: 567 runs @ 189 average.

His overall Test average: 51.26

7 tons in 25 Tests is a pretty good strike rate.

Brings to mind: Has a Test captain scored centuries in both of his first 2 Tests as skipper ?

Cook scored a century in each of his first five tests as skipper. Two against Bangladesh in 2010 when he stood in for Strauss. After Strauss retired in 2012, Cook scored 176 and 217, followed by 18 not out and 140, then 1 and 191 in the first three tests in India in November 2012.

Wow.

Thanks, mate.

You're welcome, Donny. It was a good question - I didn't know the answer and just spent some time hunting that down.

Five batsmen who have hit a century in each of their first-two Tests as captain - Steven Smith was the fifth. The others are Jackie McGlew, Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar and Alastair Cook.

It will be a Draw. It’s a Batter’s Paradise.

Be good enough for the Aussies to win the Series
