Post subject: What disunity?

This article in The Age today (27/28 Dec)

includes this comment:
Collingwood - Nathan Buckley (2016): The steady decline in performance each year since Mick Malthouse means that Buckley will face intense scrutiny if the Magpies flail in 2015. However, the loss of Dayne Beams is a mitigating factor, and as a club great it is difficult to envisage Buckley being canned while still under contract. Safe for 2016 if: He can prevent a civil war in the playing group.

Agree with the Mudlark, if anyone else feeling "disunity" then F off somewhere else. This is Buckleys team now, really happy with what he is doing. The players moved on have either been battlers, Figjams or just bogan trouble makers with egos bigger than the club.
If we didn't move them on, they would have either been retired, delisted or sacked and we wouldn't have picked up.

Agree with D S. We should have introduced the " no dickhead " policy two years earlier and then we would be two years further advanced in understanding just what this club is about to achieve. |

I think it's alluding to Swanny, and what trouble Swan might cause if his decline continues and he falls out of favour with Bucks to the extent that he drops him to the VFL. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

Another jouno having a "look at me" moment by writing something that is controversial and unsubstantiated about Collingwood. Nothing new and nothing to see here.

It's a provocative statement to stir up emotions from readers, especially from those who support Collingwood.
Yes in the past there has been a big hint of disunity between Buckley and several players but the problem seemed most prevalent during 2012 and 2013 when Buckley inherited Mick's team. Most of the players who had problems with the coach have either retired or moved to other clubs and generally become obscure players apart from Heath Shaw mainly and maybe Beams and Lumumba in the future however I'm unsure of the extent of Beams and Lumumba's motives to move to other clubs because of Buckley. Beams' official line is that he wanted to return home to be closer to his father who's suffering from cancer and with Lumumba everyone at the club seemed tired of his constant antics so the feeling was mutual there.
A lot of the younger players seemed to have a great admiration and respect for Buckley such as Taylor Adams who said Buckley was a big reason why he joined Collingwood over Geelong in last year's trade period so the squad can't be all that divided can it.
Also if Dane Swan wasn't happy here he wouldn't have declared to be a 'Magpie for life' at last year's Copeland Trophy despite some of his close friends leaving the club at the end of 2013. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023

How is that disunity?
A player near the end of his career loses form and gets dropped by the coach.
Every team from every club suffers from disunity if this is the case. _________________ Carlscum 120 years being cheating scum |
