Some decent thoughts from Mick here.

Good for Mick, but personally don't care because:
1) He coaches Carlton
2) He should have taken Eddie's advice and remained at Collingwood as director of coaching and had more time at home with his grandchildren.

As long as we kick his Bluescum teams arse on the day, I don't give a fat rats clacker what he thinks. Hes Caaaarrrton now, the most vile enemy our club has ever faced, I hope we just ruin his day bigtime. !

Actually I'm sensing a softening in the old man. I think some of the bitterness seems to have gone now. I'm sure it's there personally with Ed, but at the end of the day he's more of a Pies man than he ever will be a Blues man, unless he miraculously wins them a flag and hangs around there longer than he was with us, which is highly unlikely on both counts.

I think I'm softening to him a bit now myself and I will enjoy the day when he walks back into the club and is welcomed as a premiership hero. I reckon Ed will too to be honest.

What I'm struggling to understand is how he gets the "record" in a home and away game against us. Won't he still be 4 (or 5) premierships off the pace? Or is this just a "record" conferred for being least able to see the signs that your time is up?

dont you think that this record means everything to him and might explain why he left collingwood.

Imagine Sir Edmond Hillary accepting a role of teaching one of the sherpers how to climb a mountain instead of making the final ascent to the top?

When someone's goal is a legacy rather than premierships, popularity or adulation, its pretty hard to expect anything else.

the sad part for Mick is that since no club considers him to be one of theirs, i'm not sure who is going to give 2 shits about his coaching record (other than in the 2 weeks befroe and after the record is set).

So Mick suddenly feels awkward?? P....L......E.....A.......S.....E. How can you feel awkward Mick when your very and sole existence at Carlton was to break the record! And you're pulling the "humble card". Twat

Really? Still West Coast's greatest coach, one of only two coaches to lead Collingwood to a flag in the last 50 years and a premiership player for Richmond. At least a few clubs there that he'll always be a part of.

I don't think it's so much how about how successful he was as player or coach at these clubs because his record can't be discredited or argued against but maybe E is referring to the fact that his time at West Coast and Collingwood didn't end particularly well hence 'no club considers him to be one of theirs'.

Maybe as time goes on, the past will heal and Mick will be welcomed back with the Eagles and Pies with open arms.
