Post subject: ADF Pay Increase | |
|
Whilst many of my former associates voted for the LNP and I tell them to suck it up. 1.5% is a joke whilst the Cigar smoking treasurer and all his fellow members receive far greater remuneration. The spin Joe and Co come up their increase comes from an independent tribunal. Then we have "we can't afford it".
It's like the boss telling you that you can't that you can't have a pay rise as he drives to work in his new Mercedes. Not a good look. |

Are ADF personnel really so poorly paid? I was under the impression it was already a pretty cushy area of employment, to be honestbenefits galore, right? _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

Risk versus reward. Given the risks are extreme in this profession and the fiscal rewards and benefits are fairly average I'd say the ADF personal have every right to be fairly pissed at the government low ball offer. _________________ A Collingwood supporter since the egg was inseminated.

No benefits galore wrong!
Cushy - hmmm nope!
It isn't just about " fighting wars at the whim of our esteemed politicians" our military do some amazing work especially in our region - rebuilding, rescuing, disaster assistance e.g. tsunamis.
It is a shite offer and they have every right to be pissed off and I am pissed off on their behalf - disgraceful! _________________ “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” |

Abbott has LOWERED WAGES for ADF personel. It is as simple as that. Even Jackie Dipstick Lambie knows how stupid and unfair this is. Nuff said. _________________ Let's eat Grandma. Commas save lives! |

Those lazy buggers!
Who needs time off when your job involves dragging toddlers out of swimming pools, giving CPR to heart attack victims, attending every grisly mangled car crash, every agonising broken leg/arm/back/pelvis incident.
Nah, who needs a rest from that.... |

That's true but Bruce's point is also true. Not bad holidays.
Same with teachers. Not bad holidays & well deserved as a profession. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Oh, no doubt that's the logic. You could look it as a form of bribery, and a particularly exploitative one when you consider that there are kids without any other skills who get drawn into this line of work because of the pay and benefits. I don't think anyone should be a soldier unless they absolutely have a passion for doing what soldiers do (though I shudder to think what that quality is, exactly).
Beyond all that, I reckon there are equally dangerous jobs out there (keeping in mind that most of our troops don't get close to combat situations) that aren't nearly as well-paid. I'd rather see a bit less focus on defence spending in general, and if that translates to a slightly lower pay rate I hardly think it's the end of the world. Might encourage a few more disadvantaged teens to pursue a different line of work. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

yeah who needs defence spending, why don't we get rid of cops too, no more pesky speeding fines,
disadvantaged kids - we have a couple of kids been working for us last couple of months, good kids, gotta keep a fire under em, but good kids. I offered to write a recommendation for one, nah its ok, ive got a job if I want it, but ill have to work over Christmas, so ill just do more temp assignments for now. (hes just finished a plumbing apprenticeship) the other just finished an electrical apprenticeship. not much more drive either. and he has a house to pay for!! funnily enough, a kid that's been working for us for a while, he WANTS to join the army. he wants to drive an armoured vehicle!! hey, his mates been blown up twice in Afghanistan, hes on his third tour, its a party!!
and im telling you this kid wont make it through the first week of training, he will be a ringing that bell 5 min in!!
im not sure folks join the army due to a passion for killing people, and hopefully, the fruitcakes (yeah like Ashley) get weeded out before they hit the ground runnin!! my bet is they either want a career path, through a defence force training course, or they actually want to defend our great country. however, I could be wrong. and maybe we should just be thankful all the nutjobs are in the army and not on the street!! _________________ You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either! |
