You might be on to something but I think we need to take it one step further if we are to defeat the scourge of ISIS.

making demands to Japan on hostages is the diplomatic equivalent of go ahead make my day. They dealt with the red terrorist mob the same way. you will get 5/8th of stuff all divided by nothing.

Latest news reports claim that ISIS has been completely driven out of Kobane and the Kurdish forces have complete control of the area now.

I think Japan has been part of the anti-IS coalition providing material support for some time now - which is part of the reason these two young Japanese men are in the predicament they are.

Japan has been providing humanitarian aid in the Northern part of Iraq for displaced people in these areas but they haven't been involved in any air-strikes as far as I know.

It's great that ISIS have been kicked out of that town but have a look at the photos of what's left of the town.

FMD, historical and/or religious significance or not, bring in the bulldozers and start from scratch.

Next time they want to oust these douche nozzles from somewhere, scare out as many civilians as possible then just drop the biggest freaking bomb that's not nuclear right in the middle. Save trying to repair shit, wipe it out and start again.

Yes the pictures of Kobane after the attempted takeover of the town by ISIS is quite extraordinary. This is a massive defeat for ISIS as it demonstrates that they're not as invincible as they like to portray and secondly they've wasted a lot of manpower and weaponry in this failed attempt to take over the town.

Here are the images of Kobane after the town was reclaimed back by the Syrian Kurdish fighters on this link provided below.

Imagine if our ancestors did that with London, Rome, Berlin after WW2.

We did it with Darwin but that was different because there was nothing left anyway after the Japs had finished with it.

For that matter, there wasn't a lot there you'd want to keep before the Japs started. It was a frontier town, nearly everything shoddy, done on the cheap and in a hurry. (Still the same in some ways.) Different in the Middle-east where we have permanent structures 4000 years old. There you need to be a bit more careful about destroying the irreplacable.

When I woke up this morning to read this I wondered what would Australia do if this was an Aussie Pilot?

How can anyone defend these monsters.

New ISIL video purports to show death of Jordanian pilot

image:

The Jordanian government has confirmed that ISIL militants have killed captive pilot Moaz al-Kasasbeh. State television reported the government said the killingt had happened one month ago on January 3.

Supporters of the Islamist group circulated photos on social media of a video which purportedly shows a man burning in a cage.

However, the images have yet to be independently verified.

The Head of the Jordanian armed forces has apparently informed the family of his death.

The 26-year-old First Lieutenant was captured after his F16 crashed in the ISIL stronghold of Raqqa Syria.

The insurgents had been calling for the release of Sajida al-Rishawi who is on death row in Amman in exchange for his life.

The insurgents had been calling for the release of Sajida al-Rishawi who is on death row in Amman in exchange for his life.

If the video is real, it would appear the ISIL group wished to make the death of the Kasasbeh particularly brutal. They have repeatedly called for his death as pilot involved in the US-led coalition against the militants.

President Obama said that the video once verified proved the viciousness and barbarity of the organisation.

“The United States strongly condemns ISIL’s actions and we call for the immediate release of all those held captive by ISIL,“ White House spokeswoman Bernadette Meehan said in a statement.

The US reiterated its support for the Jordanian government and people.

I won't watch that, or even look at a picture, just reading it turns my stomach. (But David, I have seen a beheading one years ago!) One things for sure, the powers that be, need to make damn sure, there is nothing left of these evil bastards. Cruel inhumanity, has no place in the world now.

That link doesn't show much but I did stumble onto the footage

OMG I made the choice to watch knowing once it started I owed it to the poor man to watch his suffering till the end. I'm in tears typing this as it was the most horrific video I have ever seen and if anyone does stumble onto it I would strongly advise you do not watch it.

A shocking act of violence but sadly this is what we expect of ISIS these days. I'm not going to watch the video and my stomach churns just seeing images surface on these main news websites.

Scary thing is this is most likely been done for propaganda purposes as ISIS is struggling with holding territory in Iraq and Syria and by releasing videos of this nature online they depict themselves as still all powerful and conquering to those watching these videos.
