Post subject: 2012-13 drafts have been a disaster. | |
|
Not one player from those crops has produced a regular senior player (Langdon aside), Grundy was good in year one but for what ever reason lost his spot this year, Broomhead had a strong finish to 2014 but I'd hardly call his place cemented.
For what ever reason the following players have had little to no impact.
Kennedy
Freeman
Scharenberg
Ramsay
Oxley
This isn't a bag out thread on Hine, as we know we've had no luck with the injuries, but let's compare our last few drafts where we've had prime picks to the titled ones.
05: Pendles-Daisy, both were cemented senior players by mid year.
07: Reid and Brown, they took a tad longer, but most big guys do, come their second year both were best 22 (iirc)
08: Sidders (Beams wasn't a prime pick) but both were best 22 at the end of their rookie years.
Over the last 2 drafts we've had 5 sub 20 picks and not one has cemented their place as of yet. _________________ Defender...........

I would call Broomhead's place cemented. He's a gun.
Grundy is as cemented as the circumstances allow.
Kennedy is on track to cement his spot this year.
Two guys have had injuries, it'll be a great relief when they finally play a game for us, in Freeman's case it will be soon.
I think it's fantastic that of all these guys, no one has looked like turning out to be just plain shit yet. That's a win in my book _________________ they can smell what we're cookin' |

Our 2010 silverware was thanks to getting the 05/07-08 drafts right, I think we got Grundy and Broomhead right considering the picks used, not 100% on BenKen though and Shazza and Freeman has been a complete wipeout to date for obvious reasons.
Im worried Sharanberg won't reach his potential, he'll be starting 2016 as a rookie of sorts and an absolute mile behind the rest of his class, and Freemans hammies have me up at night. _________________ Defender...........

BenKen had major issues with his legs, was fixed via surgery during the 2014 preseason which meant he struggled to reach the fitness level for senior this season. He'll be fine in 2015 |

Oh, and Reid had played 8 games over 3 seasons prior to 2010, Brown 30 odd. Brown played 13 games in 2010 and wouldn't have played finals unless Presti pulled out. |

On Grundy: you find me another player in the AFL over 200cm, under 21 years of age with more than 20 games of AFL under his belt _________________ they can smell what we're cookin' |

i wouldn't call broomy's place cemented just yet. don't forget he had glandular fever which set him back. he should make further inroads this year. grundy appeared to suffer from second year syndrome. kenno is getting miles in his legs and building a tank after missing through injury. oxley had been beset by injury. ramsay is still learning the craft at afl level. obviously, with exception of shazza and freeman these picks are all relatively high because of the compromised drafts. they're probably about where they should be in terms of development taking into account their setbacks. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

Daniher came to mind straight away, I haven't searched for anyone else but I'd guess the GC or GWS might have one. _________________ Defender...........

If you so strongly believe these sides have players so much better than ours then please go and support them rather than peddling this negative crap all the time. |

It's people like you who are giving this site a bad name, I said this thread isn't about bagging out Hine, and it has nothing to do with Buckley, it's more about our rotten bad luck, and winning flags requires luck, you just don't turn up one year and win a flag, the seed needs to be sowed years before. _________________ Defender...........

The seeds for our next flag assault haven't germinated, it's as simple as that. _________________ Defender...........
