I'm liking Mutual Regard. The right jockey, excellent form at the trip, good age compared to all the geriatrics in the field.
Looking at boxing up Admire Rakti, Mutual Regard, Araldo, Lucia Valentina, Signoff.
Maybe a little each way on MR _________________ they can smell what we're cookin' |

I like Junoob and Araldo, might feature each in my multiples.
My take on the race is Falkner won't beat Admire Ratki home, Falkner had the run of the race in the Cox plate and Admire Ratki was 3 wide with a bit of cover and had to come very wide in the caulfied cup, and Faulker was under siege in the Cox plate, but I'm tipping Junoob and Araldo (with luck) to put in big runs at odds, I don't like Signpost on the quick backup, and he's tended to run in when coming wide in his recent runs, he luckily found the rail on Saturday but he won't find it in the cup from barrier 16, I'd seriously put a line through him.
Admire Ratki with his prime draw will take some beating and he'll be suited to the big track. |
BTW, congratulations on getting Junoob's and Araldo's names right.

I have no idea about horse racing but nevertheless here are my tips:
1). Admire Rakti
2). Fawkner
3). Red Cadeaux
4). Protectionist

Protectionist was a perfectionist in piercing gaps in the last 400 metres to snare the cup. _________________ JC Hartley |

Another cup runner also fighting for life.
Araldo was spooked by a kid waving a flag in it's face when returning to scale and broke a cannon bone. Vets working on the horse but doesn't sound good. _________________ If you are foolish enough to be contented, don't show it, but just grumble with the rest. - Jerome K Jerome |

The death of Admire Ratki shows the harsh reality that is horse racing - animals being overworked and forced to perform beyond their capabilities for the sake of the mega rich owners who see them as nothing more than a commodity. 125 race horses died last year. Armaldo is another that looks like he'll be put down due to breaking a cannon bone on returning to the stables. This is also the second time in a row a horse has died in this event. |

Sad day today with two deaths to the horses who were competing in the Melbourne Cup!
On another note it was extraordinary to see Red Cadeaux finish in second place again which he has achieved in the Melbourne Cup in 2011, 2013 and now today as well. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Hey mate, yep I cleaned up yesterday.
Had 50 each way on Protectionist and 20 each way on Red Cordeaux in separate bets.
Obviously, hindsight is 20/20 and should have gone the quinella but I'm $700 better off so can't complain really.
Great day, marred by two champions passing away but that is racing. _________________ I'm not arguing, I'm just explaining why I'm right |

I cleaned up, too.
Won the sweep and Best Dressed Male prize (at the Melb. Cup luncheon) - a nice bottle of Merlot. _________________ Donny.
