So the newly elected labor government is copping serious pressure to abandon their promise to allow the octagon to be used in MMA.
Quote: | THE Andrews Government is standing firm on its election commitment to legalise cage fighting in Victoria despite leading public figures urging it to reconsider.
Consumer Affairs Minister Jane Garrett maintained the government’s pledge to allow cages around mixed martial arts rings - a practice that had been banned by Labor in 2010.
“This is an election commitment, absolutely it will be honoured,” she said.
“The timing around this sport is being worked through by the government, and will be announced in due course.

Andrews, stick with this and you get some of my respect. A Labor leader pushing through the nanny state dickheads to apply a common sense solution is showing some balls. Hold fast, don't cave, Noli Illegitimi Carborundum. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

From what I know of it now after a bit of research it makes sense to allow it. |

This has me confused, it's OK for them to have these fights they just don't want it in a cage? There's a market for this stuff and the thought police say it promotes violence. Why are they not banning all the other violent shows, wrestling , Call of Duty Games? The list is a mile long. Yet I can buy alcohol virtually 24/7. |
