To me it's Greenwood at the moment, he will be a regular in the 22, Crisp I don't think will get a few games until after the first few rounds and Varcoe will be in and out of the team because players like Sinclair, Seedsman and Williams playing the same role as him. _________________ Dane Swan- The DT PIG |

The best move of the offseason was getting rid of Lappin as forward coach. |

To be honest I'm not all that excited about any of them. None of the 3 we have traded in are stars. Hopefully they do well but none of them are of the same ability as Beams.
Moore & pick 5 may well be stars though. |

Out of the three recruits of Varcoe, Greenwood and Crisp I'm most excited about Greenwood to be honest.
Many seem to be underestimating Greenwood because he's a late bloomer to the system but he's proven to be a capable player by finishing equal second in North Melbourne's best and fairest this year. He's an excellent recruit and he provides the hardness and toughness we need in the midfield. He's not as good as Beams but he's an adequate replacement and he does remind me a little of Jordan Lewis with the way he plays unsociable football. Levi will need to work on his disposal efficiency though but I like this recruitment.
Jack Crisp is an unknown talent for me. He could produce unexpected results for us and be a good recruit for us. There's a lot to work with and his last six games for the Lions in late 2014 were very encouraging to say the least. He's got the height that we need and he has the ability to be a surprisingly good recruit for us. I'm looking forward to seeing how he develops over the next few years.
Admittedly Varcoe is the one I was probably least excited about and actually quite hesitant for the club to recruit in the first place but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. If he can produce the form that he displayed in 2011 we're on a winner here but if he's injury-riddled like 2012-2013 then I worry about this recruitment. It's hard to establish how Buckley will use Varcoe but I suppose he may use him off half-back or play him up forward where we are in desperate need for some pace around that area of the ground. Varcoe is generally a good user of the ball and has the pace to be a good forward for us if Buckley uses him in that manner. I just hope we haven't recruited a player who's on the decline though. Maybe Varcoe will rejuvenate himself in a new environment.
The recruitments of Darcy Moore and eventually the player we use at pick 5 will be very exciting as well. _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |
