Yes, simply because the scope for improvement is huge.
As posted already injuries are a major factor.

However another factor will be freshness and energy that will come with the new and the young players.

I'm certain Swan, Cloke, Reid, Brown, Toovey and even Pendlebury will improve with new faces around them and being injury free.

6-8 finish.

We need to find a way to score about 2600 points for in 2015, that's an average of 118 point a game or 20 goals.

I can't see where we get 20 goals a game from.

why do think that? of course it is going to depend on the fixture and who we get to play twice. for some teams we're not going to need 20 goals, probably more like 15.

No. But that doesn't make me a hater. I just think we're rebuilding and accept that this process takes time.

I'll be thrilled to be wrong.

I hope you don't mind, I'm going to use this post as an example.

This is how you can post something that says that you don't think the side will perform that well in a polite, succinct and pleasant way. I disagree with what you've said, I think we'll make it next year but I can happily accept your opinion while disagreeing with it.

Others could learn a thing or two from it.

Well said.

Only 1 side eclipsed 2200 pts in 2014 (Hawthorn - 2458) yet the Pies desperately need to kick 2600 to be competitive enough to make finals in 2015....

i thought we'd finish anywhere between 5-12 and retained terrific optimism throughout the year that we'd go ok. sadly, we did go ok against teams i didn't think we would get close to but didn't go ok against sides i thought we'd deal to comfortably.

i feel this year is the year we should have had last year save for the injuries we endured. am still bullish by what can be achieved in the next couple of years. next year is effectively year three of the current squad and usually this is when teams start putting things together.

I thought we'd finish top 6 if we got a decent run with injuries, super disappointing season, especially considering how our mature age recruits (Varcs and Crisp) performed.

It's a no for me.

I bleed for this club and will be a paid up Home and Away member again next year but unfortunately I think we're going to fall short again. The only way we'll play finals next year is if we have a great run on the injury front and we improve out of sight with our game plan and the youngsters take it to their next level and we see the likes of Karnezis, Freeman and Marsh emerge into genuine starters for the team.

Long-term we'll be in good stead as we turn over our list now, but in the short-term it's going to be a frustrating period for the club and I can see us being inconsistent again next year. The loss of Beams will hurt us especially in the short term, but I hope Levi Greenwood can fill this replacement adequately if he replicates his 2014 form from the Kangaroos and it should be remembered that three players in the top 5 for this year's Copeland Trophy won't be playing with us most likely as Beams and H are gone but Macaffer did his knee late in the season and while he's confident of a return by round 1 I don't want to see him rushed back in. I can't say I'm sold on the recruitment of Travis Varcoe but I hope he proves me wrong and young Jack Crisp is still a kid with just potential at the moment but I look forward to watching his development.

I have us finishing between 9th to 12th most likely and if everything goes our way with several factors such as injuries, game plan, form and improvement of players we might sneak a 7th or 8th spot. Finals would be a fantastic achievement for this side in my opinion next year.

I'll make a proper assessment of our potential position after the whole recruiting process is over in early December when the pre-season draft concludes.

Respect! You have proven to have had a great perspective on where we are at, a year before we were at it!
