But why?

As so called commentators LOL at Gillards book being marked down 50% at large retailers the real marketing reasons behind the 50% off is ignored.

PRICE IS NOT ALWAYS RIGHT

Bring it in tight, my friend Steve Price, night-time host at 2GB. Your unseemly sneer on the The Project this week, that Julia Gillard's political memoir is "already [selling at] half price at Big W" betrays a complete lack of understanding of the book market. Selling books at half-price is, specifically, what Big W does, and authors like me kill to be on their shelves as they sell so many. They pick what they think will be very popular books, and then they sell them with a huge discount, in bulk, to bring people through their doors. That's their business model and it works! In fact, Gillard's book is selling well, with more than 11,000 copies sold in the first 10 days.

Shrug. Will be in Salvation Army stores sooner or later. Not exactly the most riveting genre out there, the politician's autobiography.

Last weekend, I bought Cakewalk and One Grand Week for half price. And those books both concern matters of much greater social and political import.

Didn't Essendon write that last year?

Can Essendon be done for plagiarism?
